In today's review, which year has a caption that is also the name of a movie currently in theatres?

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Friday, December 9, 2011 - 07:57 am:

I'm gonna guess 2008....Twilight!

This day in 2008 was a horrible year for me. My dad passed away 3 years ago today. I still miss him terribly!

Have a great day everybody!

One of the bad effects of diabetes, in both human and canines is cataracts and vision loss. Brimley my diabetic Scottish Terrier has this progressing now. Going to our vet this afternoon to get referred to a dog/cat ophthalmologist to reverse this condition with surgery. Any spare Prayers would be so grateful and appreciated by me!

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Friday, December 9, 2011 - 08:20 am:

God's speed, JT! They can do some amazing things these days for animals and keep in mind; he's a Scot, och aye.

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Friday, December 9, 2011 - 08:37 am:

Thank You Alex! So right a Scot doesn't let too many hardships near the heart!

By Donna (Donna) on Friday, December 9, 2011 - 09:19 am:

Healing light and prayers wrapped around your pup, Janie.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Friday, December 9, 2011 - 09:29 am:

Good Morning, you all. Sending good thoughts and prayers your and Brimley's way!

We just found out that my 13-year old Havanese has an enlarged heart, with pulmonary edema. He's on Lasix now, probably for the rest of his life. We are relieved that the Lasix seems to be relieving his cough a lot, even though it is still there, somewhat! He's playing more with his little friend, Toby now, and he won't leave my Lhasa girl alone now. He does seem to be doing much better. :-)

By Norma in Midland (Normainmidland) on Friday, December 9, 2011 - 09:30 am:

Deb my thoughts and prayers are with you today! And JT my thoughts and prayers are with you and your sweet baby!

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Friday, December 9, 2011 - 10:48 am:

Deb, a 'horrible' day when you lose someone dear, can make the whole year equally horrible and extremely sad!
Janie and Marianne, so very sorry to hear about your doggies' conditions. Janie, my husband had diabetes and had to undergo cataract surgeries on both eyes. Both successful. Marianne, the pulmonary edema/heart problems were part of my husbands illness(es) also. Prayers going up for both pups!:>

By Thomas Baird (Thomas) on Friday, December 9, 2011 - 02:36 pm:

Great Pics.

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Friday, December 9, 2011 - 03:08 pm:

They're Scotties, Janie; just give em a glass of Wee Heavy and a dram and they'll be fine!! ;-)

Prayers to the four-legged children......

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Friday, December 9, 2011 - 03:34 pm:

Thank You everyone for the kind words and hopeful wishes! Means so much to me!! I have always said there is only one other Being that loves my Scots more than Bob & I, and that's God! Marianne, it's a shame dogs don't live longer lives, but they seem to put more into the years they are with us, than some folks do in their 80 - 90 years of life! Best of health to your Havanese. Capt, I'm joining my Scots with the Wee Heavy and a dram and we all will be fine! Aye!

By Hollidays (Hollybranches) on Friday, December 9, 2011 - 04:55 pm:

Hope all of the doggies get well, including Yooper Joe who is having kidney problems.

A howl can mean many things, from happiness to sad.
He howls when alone and hurt or overall just mad.

You scold him when he acts this way, tells him that he's bad.
But when you look deep in his eyes, you see that he's just glad.

When your around, he can't hold back, filled with so much joy.
You finally realize, he's more than just a toy.

Cradled in your swaying arms, a tear falls to his nose.
You realize, right then and there, your the one he chose.

So think next time you scold your dog for all his calls and cries.
You'll long to hear him once again, in time for last good bye's.

By Cheryl Rozman (Cotton) on Friday, December 9, 2011 - 05:10 pm:

Deb, I'm thinking of you. No matter how long it is that your loved one is gone it still hurts. My hugs to you friend.

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Friday, December 9, 2011 - 05:42 pm:

That's definitely a tear-jerker, Hollidays!

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Friday, December 9, 2011 - 06:20 pm:

Feeling more optimistic now. Our vet referred Brimley on to a ophthalmologist/surgeon, said Brimley was an excellent candidate for cataract surgery. Marianne and Hollidays keep the faith, there is power in Prayers!

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Friday, December 9, 2011 - 06:49 pm:

Janie, happy to hear the good news about Brimley!

Thanks Shirley & Cheryl for the kind words. It's always a hard day on the 9th of December for me. Just glad it was busy at work and the day flew. And now our granddaughter is coming over for the night. That will help keep our minds off it it also.

Hope all the dogs get better. I love my dog too and hate it when she's not feeling well.

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Saturday, December 10, 2011 - 06:57 am:

Deb, Thanksgiving Day is my *sad* holiday. That was the day in 1988 my dad passed on, it also was his 73rd birthday that year. As more time passes, I miss my dad more. There are somethings time just doesn't or can't heal.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Saturday, December 10, 2011 - 07:48 am:

That's the truth, Janie! I'm sorry for your loss:(
