Today's photo from Linda Schneller, is what it looked like here in Lake Linden a few days ago... everything was painted white and sparkly by an early morning frost and then sunshine to illuminate it. The morning was cold, but the beauty of the scenes all around, made you forget about the chill in the air.

Since we were checking out frost, I thought I'd throw in a couple bonus frosty photos, the first from Brita Haapala, shows the intricate work of Jack Frost on a window. The second is another example of winter window art, snapped by Mike Schneider.

With all three of these shots here today, it looks like someone was quite busy with a paintbrush, when in reality it's just nature's artwork, enjoyed by those of us UP North.

Well, those are certainly nice! I especially love that second one!

I love the first one.

LOL! Alex. I think they're all unique and beautiful. To me the last one looks like a crumpled up bunch of Christmas tree tinsel!

I thought the first one is what should have been seen down here this morning, what with all the fog! I saw a Chinese dragon in the second one, and a grazing moose or reindeer in the third. I declare, Jack Frost is a most prolific and intricate artist! On a side note, maybe we could get Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Vera Allen, and Rosemary Clooney here in the D. Or maybe you would lend us Heikki Lunta to do his snow dance? I keep telling everybody that Santa doesn't know how to swim, so stop the rain!!!

By David S. (Yooperdfs) on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 - 01:56 pm:

I'm always amazed at the wonders of nature.

Karen, I second that emotion(to go Motown for a minute). I'm in SE Michigan & will be spending Christmas in mid-Michigan.

Oh well, hopefully my christmas lights last night brightened the rainy, foggy night for passers-by. (Another reason snow cover is good: it makes for more light at night)

Frostingly beautiful.

Beautiful work Linda and Brita!
