Christine Marshall, along with family and friends made a trek into the woods near their home in Pelkie, looking for the perfect Christmas tree and created some lasting memories for the little ones that day. Her daughters, ages 1 and 3 look like they had a fun time and so did the dogs that tagged along for the day, too. One of the girls even had a "piggy-back" ride on one of the trees, with their golden retriever quite interested in the goings on. I'm thinking it was perhaps being protective of the little girl, making sure she was OK up there on that tree. Keweenaw style Christmas fun, for the whole family!

The doggie probably wanted to jump up there and go for a ride with the little girl----how cute. Ya' bundle them up and get them outdoors.

Kids, dogs, Christmas tree hunting in the U.P...Christmas time can't get any better!

I second that, Janie!! Oh what fun..............

A nice change of pace on yesterdays Pasty page. Appreciate Charly's patience for something that dosn't happen often. Those offended by it should follow some advice given to me by certain posters. "If you don't like some posts, just skip them."

Hi
Thanks, this made my morning. What a great family outing. The "tree hunt" phrase made me think of an old news story, where they said Michgan residents who live near a state forest could get permission to go cut a tree, putting their tag on the tree after they cut it down, just like a deer tag. I'm not sure if I'm remembering it right. But the gist of it--living in an area of natural beauty and being able to enjoy it--is way cool.

Before I read Mary's description of the photos I thought the first one might be John & Nora Dee's little daughter, Grace, being followed by their lab, Huck! A great day for that little girl to store into her memory bank.
Agreed, FJL.:)

What memories of getting a Christmas tree. Love the season! Thanks for the pictures of hunting for the perfect tree!

Wow, I think that in the first picture it is Miss Little Cannonball but am not certain as I do not see her Mommy.

That is why different pages were created for different postings....

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Monday, December 19, 2011 - 02:58 pm:

or should I have said different subjects other than the pictures?

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Monday, December 19, 2011 - 03:22 pm:

Mickill, if the doggie is a Golden Retriever as it appears to be, it probably was contemplating a jump onto the tree. One day when my husband decided to take a swim/float in our pond, our daughter's GR decided to do the same and overturned the float and my husband. He didn't mean any harm, he just wanted to go somewhere.:)

There have been some years my wife and I have cut our own Christmas Tree.

The calumet cam is off line again just thought you would like to know.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Monday, December 19, 2011 - 07:35 pm:

FJL, didn't you say that yesterday?

By DARRELL C OINAS (Northwind) on Monday, December 19, 2011 - 07:38 pm:

Brings back a good memory of 1968 when I went with my dad to get a chrismas tree out in the woods, snow up to my waist and I do belive we were on state land but then again back then it did not seem to matter as it does today so and this may not be politicaly correct but then again I never cared to be correct so? MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Monday, December 19, 2011 - 08:11 pm:

Although I won't be 'celebrating' this year, Northwind, I will join you in these wishes...MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!
