Joe Kirkish recently took a walk up Agate Street in Houghton and then across 5th Street and photographed some interesting sights along the way, with the snow falling as he walked along. I'm guessing those are his footprints that he stopped to capture, then he spotted someone's bicycle, sitting idle and covered with a coating of snow. Doesn't look like it'll be biking weather any time soon around the Keweenaw, so no need to brush that bike off just yet. Joe's last shot, I'm going to guess, was taken right in his own back yard, because he's shared photos of his Chinese Lanterns before. What a sturdy plant that is, that it can withstand the weight of winter snow and still show up bright green and orange to give us a last taste of color for the winter months. Special thanks to Joe for taking us along on his walk, so we could share in the "small delights" that we often overlook.

Nice shots!! Just thankful it's there and not here. I like driving on dry roads!

Beautiful winter *still* pictures!

Colorful plant photo! That's why the Chinese are beating us; even their plants are sturdy :)

Pretty much every developed nation is beating us and will continue to do so until we understand that funding education is an investment in our children's future that we must commit to.

Looks like Joe almost stepped into a hole....or is that a manhole cover (made in East Jordan?):)
David, I respect your opinion but I'm old enough to remember back when our country was perhaps at its greatest, and yet there were fewer young people who could afford to extend their educations, and a college degree usually meant a profession like medicine, teaching, etc.. If what I've heard about the distant past, a large number of inventors, corporation builders and such did not even attend college. But you know what they possessed.....something rare these days....common sense.

Beautiful pictures again, Joe. Thanks so much!
Wishing You and Yours a Happy Holiday Season!

A college education today is trying to separate the liberal propaganda being forced on the students, from the actual course they signed up for..........

FJL..Amen my friend!

Agate Street...I remember delivering pizzas during my college days at MTU. It was one of those addresses that sent shivers down your spine when an order came in on a night when the roads were snow-covered. Sometimes discretion (or cold pizza) was the better part of valor: I parked at the base of the steep stretch & would walk up.

What?! The toxic ooze of political vitriol seeping into the PastyCam?! Please, say it ain't so, Joe! Such sacrilege!

Joe K., on the other hand, thank you for this frosty goodness. The trails await us! I was just thinking it's been too many years since we've enjoyed your wonderful thimbleberry jam. Hope you still get out to your favorite patch each summer.
