Steve Brimm was on hand in Copper Harbor for their annual Christmas Tree Lighting event. With much anticipation by young and old alike, the little town celebrates the Christmas season, turning on the lights to many ohs and ahs of appreciation. It's a great way to draw everyone out together, so they can enjoy a part of this beautiful winter festivity here UP North.

Nice photos...This time of year is just great, love the lights!

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 - 05:28 am:

How wonderful! Thanks Steve for giving us this magical moment.

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 - 05:51 am:

Greta pictures. Love the last with the little one looking at the lights.

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 - 06:08 am:

Christmas, one of the best times of the year! Beautiful and very festive decorations!

By Eugene Zuverink (Zube) on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 - 07:37 am:

How nice, that little town way UP there. I didn't
think there was that many people left UP there
this time of year to do such a nice job like that. Just so pretty.

I've never been to Copper Harbor at this time of year. I guess one of these years I'm going to have to do that. Awesome photos!

By Carole (Carole) on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 - 07:51 am:

Awesome!!!

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 - 07:52 am:

Very nice!

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 - 08:46 am:

Good Morning. I love the cheery Christmas lights and trees in the Copper Harbor photos! What fun! It gets me in the mood to do our Christmas things, like writing Christmas cards, etc. Thank you, Steve Brimm & Mary. Wishing you all a joyful Christmas season! :-)

By Karen Benton (Nerakthenice178) on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 - 08:49 am:

How beautiful the Harbor looks! Thank you, Steve.

By Helen Marie Chamberlain (Helen) on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 - 09:17 am:

Lovin' the pictures, Steve. Such a magical time of year and you captured some of it beautifully. Thank you!

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 - 10:14 am:

Beautiful, beautiful! Isn't it strange how wonderful houses look when decorated at Christmastime, with all the colored lights, yet if it were the middle of June, say, folks would think it's tacky.;) Mickill, I like that last one too, with the child's reaction....that almost looks like a 'sparkler' someone stuck in the ground.

I highly recommend to anyone to go to Copper
Harbor in the winter
time. Truly a winter wonderland! Be sure to bring
some skis
(either!), snowshoes, snowmobile, and/or ice
fishing gear to really
enjoy the season - or just a good book, if you
prefer. Oh, and your
camera, of course! There is plenty of shelter and
sustenance
available, and the hard-working, dedicated folks
there, like the ones
who put up this wonderful display, will make sure
your trip is an
enjoyable one!
Thank you, Steve, for your festive photos to put
us all in the spirit!

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 - 12:44 pm:

ILMHitCC..hubby & I contribute to Copper Harbor's economy a lot when we snowmobile vacation there.

By Sharon I. Smith (Sharons) on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 - 02:10 pm:

Copper Harbor thanks everyone who supports us by coming to visit, summer, fall, winter or spring (although spring isn't quite as inspiring). I guess there are about 80 of us here full-time these days. Don Kilpela, Jr. is in charge of the light display, and he does an amazing job.

Today is a worrysome one for snow lovers. It's been raining and a a lot of what little snow we had is going fast. Come, winter! And stay around!

By Thomas Baird (Thomas) on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 - 03:02 pm:

I can never see enough Christmas lights. Thanks 4 sharing!

By Helen in the U. P.! (Lahelo) on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 - 03:17 pm:

The pictures are beautiful. I love Copper Harbor. Thank for sharing Mary! Steve has done a good job on these pictures.

By Kathyrn Laughlin (Kathyl) on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 - 04:57 pm:

Hi
Christmas lights are welcome at this time of year 'cause the nights are long & dark. And of course a white blanket of snow sets them off nicely.

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 - 07:42 pm:

Winter wonderland for sure. ;O)

By Wes Scott (Travelnorth) on Thursday, December 15, 2011 - 12:18 am:

Copper Harbor is a nice unique area.
There are some real wonderful scenic spots
up there. It's special and the fact it's small
and not alot of people keeps it that way. I enjoy a visit once or twice a year just because.
It's uplifting to know traditions and nice natural places still exist.

By ILMHitCC (Ilmhitcc) on Thursday, December 15, 2011 - 11:45 am:

We're with you, Janie! We are long overdue and anxious for a snowmobile trip this year!! C'mon Heikki Lunta, get to work!!
