When you see a bank of clouds on the horizon UP North here, like today's top photo from Frederic W. Koski, you just know the weather will be up to no good. In this case, is was a band of heavy snow that was coming through the Three Lakes area, covering everything in a white cape of sorts. It sure makes for some perfect Christmas card scenes and showcases more of the beauty found here in the U.P. of Michigan. Of course if you have to be out driving on the roads when all this beauty is falling from the sky, you might have a different opinion of it, for sure. But from our standpoint today, just enjoying the talent of Frederic and his camera, it doesn't get much better than this.

How lovely! I am so tired of dull sepia forests and fields. Time for some real winter.

Superior! These pictures could almost pass as vintage black & white photos.

Hi Downstate (SE Michigan) we had only a couple of inches on the ground Saturday & clear and sunny skies, which made for perfect conditons for going out to cut down a Christmas tree. Snow cover also makes for a brighter night, especially with the lovely full moon.

More pretty pix! The third one reminds me of crossing the Continental Divide in Wyoming on a day in October, 1980. Could barely see the road thru all the snow and fog. But pretty!
