Good morning!! WOW!! What a race this morning!! By Greta Armata (Gretania) on Monday, November 28, 2011 - 08:10 am: Thanks for the pasty pictures yesterday. They spurred me on to making a luscious pie pasty for supper. Yes, rutabagas. By jbuck (Jbuck) on Monday, November 28, 2011 - 08:15 am:
UC!!! By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Monday, November 28, 2011 - 09:27 am: Speaking of rutabagas, Greta, on the outskirts of a small village where we lived in southern PA, there was a field of rutabagas with an irrigation system which covered them with ice when the temp. dropped, but they could still be smelled miles away. However they are great in pasties. By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Monday, November 28, 2011 - 09:42 am:

By Thomas Baird (Thomas) on Monday, November 28, 2011 - 01:28 pm: Some Wintry scenes here. All good pics, though. By Uncle Chuck (Unclechuck) on Monday, November 28, 2011 - 03:03 pm:
The trip was great! Still not the same not being able to stay at LB, Marty and I stayed at the Americinn in Calumet, great rate for the week, great rooms, excellent breakfast, I highly recommend it. Had to eat out all the time of course. The Hut, Whitehouse, Slims Cafe, Jim's Pizza were great, Lac La Belle was totally shut down when we were there :-( By Uncle Chuck (Unclechuck) on Monday, November 28, 2011 - 03:18 pm: P.S. We also ate an Irish Pub in Laurium and it was fantastic, I would be remiss if I didn't mention that, can't remember the name but it's on the main drag. Toni's was closed for hunting, real bummer, no tarts. Good bakery at Slims though. By Janie T. UC, hats off to you to let them bucks grow. It's kind of like fishing, anything young needs to be able to live for a bit. I think it was the "warm" fall, the rut was late this year. By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Monday, November 28, 2011 - 04:59 pm: Uncle Chuck, don't sound like campin' in the boonies to me....bet Marty was really shocked. Glad you had a safe and fun trip! Now, get back to work.;) By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Monday, November 28, 2011 - 06:41 pm: Speaking of hunting luck: we saw lots of vehicles headed south, especially from Bridgeport to US 23, that had their gutted deer on them. And, we saw something I've never seen before: a gutted deer on the side of the road. I haven't figured out if it innocently fell off of a vehicle, or if someone heard there was a check station ahead, and they did not have a tag for it, or something.
