Not me, but I used to play Wipe Out on the drums. Does that count?

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Thursday, November 17, 2011 - 08:18 am:

Good morning everyone. 27 and overcast here in Houghton. It must be winter, county snow plow came down the street this morning.

Once again, pretty photos this morning....well with 2 exceptions (I'm not a sports fan);). The cattle grazing scene is my favorite, but also like the fall flower....that one looks like an artist's 'study in gardening'. BTW, Alex, so you're a drummer? My husband played drums his four years in the high school band.

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Thursday, November 17, 2011 - 01:03 pm:

Shirley...I played trumpet in the elementary school band, but it sounded like someone beating a cat to death with a haggis.

Great pictures.

By Hollidays (Hollybranches) on Thursday, November 17, 2011 - 04:50 pm:

Finally got our two inches of snow in Ontonagon. Now all we need is another 198 more inches to meet the normal snowfall for the winter. :)

For the deer report; A hunter got a six point buck yesterday, no big deal but it was an albino.

A Mass City hunter bagged a fifteen point buck today, he weighed in at 203 pounds.

I know a lot of you don't like deer season but, it takes a deer over two weeks to die from starvation and the wolves and coyotes get it before it is even dead. Hunting is the balance of nature and a lot of Yoopers depend on the meat to survive.

LOL! Alex ;D I 'played' the bell lyre.....ahem, no comment. :] But hey, I had to play something to get into band class where my future husband was. ;)

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Thursday, November 17, 2011 - 08:50 pm:

Hmmmm; beating a cat to death with a haggis sounds illegal, yet fun!!

Oooh, bagpipes! <grin>

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Friday, November 18, 2011 - 07:07 am:

Shirley, when I was in high school, I marched with a bell lyre because our band did not march my regular instrument, bass clarinet. Every year in the fall and winter, I managed to kill a nylon mallet in at least one parade because it would crack and break, when it heated up while I was playing and then cooled off when I wasn't. Fortunately, nobody got hit by a flying mallet head. This was in Houston, not in Michigan.

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Friday, November 18, 2011 - 07:59 am:

Marching with a bell lyre will do a number on your body! The band went on a trip to a strawberry festival in a small TN town on one of the hottest spring days ever, so not only was I exhausted from the heat, I had a bruise on the front of my hip that took forever to clear up. Thank goodness that was our last field trip that year! My husband-to-be graduated at the end of that year, so I dropped out of bandclass.;)
