By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Monday, November 7, 2011 - 07:54 am:

Good Morning. I agree with Capt Paul, I count 7 men and 6 women.

Fresh out of poultry, but yes

By Jerry Jackman (Loball0) on Monday, November 7, 2011 - 07:56 am:

Seven men and six ladies. The odds say 7 ladies

Is that the name of a horse?

By Michael Du Long (Mikie) on Monday, November 7, 2011 - 07:56 am:

I agree with the above. Not trying to get the bird today. Just feeling agreeable today.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Monday, November 7, 2011 - 07:57 am:

Way to go, Capt!! The men do squeak it out.

Love this years frosty pics, though it means the cold is getting closer and closer. Was a cold day here yesterday and supposed to be again today.

Hope you have a great start to your week, everybody!

Big happenings going on in Oklahoma these days with all the earthquake activity. Some of the "pre-quakes" are very similiar to what happened in 1811 in Missouri before the big one hit New Madrid in 1812; however, it doesn't necessarily mean that a larger one is on its way.

I'm w/the Cap't. UNLESS, you want to count Jon as one photograher, rather than 2 pics, then it's 6 and 6.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Monday, November 7, 2011 - 08:24 am:

Did you feel the Oklahoma quake in Texas, Capt Paul? I heard some people in Wisconsin felt it, or at least they claimed to.

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Monday, November 7, 2011 - 09:11 am:

Yep, my reading of Charlie's question is how many 'photographs' were taken by each (gender). Beautiful photo by Sharon Smith. I'd say man or woman, they all did themselves proud!:)

By sometimesyooper (Nancyd) on Monday, November 7, 2011 - 09:44 am:

We had an earthquake in Colorado several months ago - the same day as the Virginia quake. All of this earthquake activity in relatively unusal areas sort of has me thinking.

Man made global warming maybe???

By Uncle Chuck (Unclechuck) on Monday, November 7, 2011 - 10:30 am:

Marty and I, Keweenaw bound at the end of this week. Can't wait!

By Jackpine (Jackpine) on Monday, November 7, 2011 - 10:33 am:

First post here. Wife and I are looking for a cabin
on the big lake for the weekend for our anniversary.
It'd be ideal if it had a hot tub and fireplace.
Any ideas out there? I know it's last minute but I
thought I'd give it a shot. Maybe Copper Harbor but
anywhere from Houghton North. Thanks.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Monday, November 7, 2011 - 11:47 am:

I knew it was a windy day up there, just looking at Michigan Tech's motion web cams; it's enough to make one sea sick just watching the motion pictures moving all over the place. And then I saw white caps on the Portage. Finally, I looked at the noaa.gov page, and I see that Houghton has a Wind Advisory, and currently has wind gusts up to 48 mph, ie, gale force. It seems to be time for you all to batten down the hatches, if you haven't already done so UP there. :-)

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Monday, November 7, 2011 - 12:10 pm:

We didn't feel anything from the Oklahoma EQ down here, but we've had some close by in Beeville SE of San Antonio recently; didn't feel those either. And no FJL, it's NOT man-made global warming!!!! :-P

Welcome to Pasty, Jackpine!! I would say check the Keweenaw Peninsula Chamber of Commerce for information or call them. Only bad thing right now is that many of them will be closing up shop for the winter.

Good luck! J

By Jackpine (Jackpine) on Monday, November 7, 2011 - 12:19 pm:

Thanks for the reply Capt. I've run into a lot of
the closed for the season hotels/resorts. I think
I've found a place though. Great site here. Keep up
the good work.

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Monday, November 7, 2011 - 01:40 pm:

Hope you find a place, Jackpine, anywhere UP there should be a great place to celebrate! Welcome to this site, and Happy Anniversary to you and your wife!
