Over the weekend, the snowflakes kept falling and falling and falling, covering everything in sight. Which isn't a bad thing, really. You can see what I mean in these photos today, with the snowy coating making some beautiful winter scenes.

First from Linda Schneller, this night-time scene with the trees in her yard all trimmed in white. If you're wondering about the wooden structure on the right side of the photo, that's where Linda and her hubby, Joe, prop up the Christmas trees they'll be selling, beginning this Friday at their Bootjack home. So if you're looking for a beautiful "real" tree this year, head on out to 48025 Bootjack Road, in Lake Linden... any tree on the lot, $25. And no, that's not including the ones in today's photo, those are permanent in Linda's yard. :->

The bottom two photos were snapped by Bob Gilreath in his yard. With the amount of snow falling, he said they filled their bird feeders, figuring the birds would need the nourishment in the morning. Thanks for taking care of our feathered friends and sharing your snowy wonderland with us, Bob!

That's what it looked here this weekend, too. We had our annual holiday home tour out here, and some people were not able to finish it due to blizzard conditions. No SISU out here, I guess!!! THEY didn't grow up UP there, lol!!

Nice photos! It takes me a while to get used to the white stuff.

Pretty snowfall pictures. Something about night snowfall pictures stand out with me, perhaps because not many taken at night? My daughter took some night snowfall pictures of our horses, she caught some impressive pictures.

Night snowfall...sure does make for some stunning pics Janie....And holy wha man...did it ever pour down on Saturday nite....unreal...even here in the Banana Belt in Baraga! My birdfeeders were filled and then covered in snow...I don't think anything even tried to eat, except for the deer that comes in to empty one feeder each nite....don't know when she (or they) snuck in!

Hi
There is nothing like that downstate (SE Michigan). It would make it easier to get into pre-Christmas spirit; various towns have already had "Christmas parades" before Thanksgiving.

A $25 Christmas tree sounds wonderful! Too bad it's too far.

Impressive scenes! The 'night' snowfalls would always get me excited down south in Nashville....meant NO school tomorrow!;> Would you believe I was awakened by a thunderstorm here in OH this morning?

Beautiful trees, Linda! We used to grow and sell them, too, when I was a kid. The White Pines were the funniest, since we had such sandy soil: 4 feet of trunk, then 4 branches same level, then 2-3 feet of trunk, then 4 branches same level, and on up to the top of the tree. Needless to say, we didn't grow too many of those! They couldn't even qualify as a Charlie Brown!

Absolutely stunning photos that lit up my morning with sunshine in my soul. I LOVE WINTER...just saying. I cannot wait till we are blanketed down south here in MEN-O-MIN-NEE.

Pretty.

By Paul Roberts (Grizzlyadams) on Monday, November 21, 2011 - 04:02 pm:

I'm with you Brenda! Although I think I'll have to wait a bit longer as I'm down here near Dayton. I'm sure it's coming though. If not, it's just an excuse to go up to the UP for a visit! :-)

The way a crow
Shook down on me
The dust of snow
From a hemlock tree
Has given my heart
A change of mood
And saved some part
Of a day I had rued.

Pretty poem, Hollidays, sounds like Robert Frost...my all-time favorite poet.

Meant to add before I clicked 'post'....the pix today remind me of my favorite Frost poem.."Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening"....."whose woods these are, I think I know....." Thank you, Linda, and Bob, for glimpses of nightime beauty!

Why does the calumet cam seem to only have two pictures per day should it not take a new pict every 5 minutes?
