It started on Wednesday here in the Keweenaw and in many other places across the U.P. and Midwest, yes that's right, snow! Not sure if it's going to stick around for awhile or not, but Tina Jeffery's family got right out there and into the fun of building a snowman and what looks like perhaps a snowchild. The smiles on her little ones faces, pretty much tells the story, kids just love the first snowfall and just about every one that comes along afterwards. So, if you still have some snow around, where you live... get out there and enjoy it like a child does!

YES.....YES, YES, YES....way to welcome the season Tina Jeffery's family....(and they said I cracked up when I said "catch a snowflake on your tongue and welcome the snow".....

Naw, Donna, I said you "flipped".;) Yep, I remember the joys of snowfalls and catching flakes on my tongue, and would take nothing for my memories of then. For one thing I remember how wet and cold my little hands would get in those knitted gloves kids wore almost exclusively way back then....didn't have much protection like childrens' gloves and mittens have today. But it was fun!! I love the 'pose' of the little tyke on the right in the first photo. God bless children!!

I just love the happy exuberance of the snowman. Very much like the one in Raymond Briggs' book "The Snowman". Looks like the whole family got to share the simple fun!

Such delightful photos and I too love the first one! I still try to build at least one snowman a year. I DO LOVE WINTER IN DA GOOD OLE U.P.

I want to say THANK YOU to all of you that sent me your thoughts & prayers on November 10th, the 36th anniversary of the Edmund Fitzgerald. I really appreciate them & I love all of you who care so much. We certainly have a special relationship each & every one of us on this Pasty website. We need never feel alone because we aren't. Thanks Charlie & Mary for bringing all of us together.

Its great if you did not have a dog but we did and every now and then you would have somthing attach to the snowperson that did not smell to good.

Shirley - I remember bringing in my soaking wet knitted gloves and laying them by the heat register to dry, they created a small puddle. Funny, my feet never seemed to stay warm and dry either, but my boots weren't knitted :-). Thanks for the great memories.

Sldmi, you're right....cold, wet feet! My boots were some sort of rubbery stuff, but what happened was the snow would come in from around the tops. No weather-proof snowsuits back then either! :pbrrrrrrr But somehow we survived and were healthy!

Remember bread bags on your feet inside your boots? And those knitted strings that attached your gloves to each other and you wore it through the sleeves of your jacket? LOL....
