As the rest of us that live UP North here prepare for the arrival of winter around our homes, so too, the eagles who stick around, prepare their nests. Frederic W. Koski captured two of them, as they worked on their nest and from the looks of it in the last photo, it's quite the nest, indeed. To the right of the eagle sitting on the branch, you can see the portion shown in the 2nd photo, but then below that, there seems to be another level that goes quite a way down the tree. It's amazing the size of the branches the eagles were carrying, from small sticks to quite large ones, too. Looks like these two are prepared for whatever weather comes our way... sure hope the rest of us are.

What beautiful photos, Fredric! And thank you, Mary, for posting them this morning. The Bald Eagle is my favorite American bird of prey!

And as huge as those Eagles are, that "big stick" is probably a small branch....ripped right off the tree in a "fly-by"...

As big as that nest is, I wonder if they got the proper building permits before starting construction?? ;-)

Donna, it really is snowing a lot right UP there now! I see on the Tech web cams that even the football team is having an indoor practice. It is fun to watch the huge flakes streaming down on Tech's motion cams.
LOL, Shirley - you and me both! My special needs son drives all of us nuts with his talking about snow 365 days a year. I tried telling him he couldn't talk about it until Thanksgiving, but that didn't work. I'd really be happy to have snow just around Christmas, and then have it go away soon after. I think Deb S feels somewhat the same, if I'm not mistaken? We have rain mixed with snow in our forecast for Thurs and Friday here in mid-Michigan. We just have a Wind Advisory here right now, but Houghton has a Winter Weather Advisory.
