Hello Deb. How is Ron's salsa coming? I get peach salsa here. Maybe he could make some apple salsa for a change. I know he has all those ripe apples to contend with. Whatever he makes is great.

This was a grand weekend around my place. Topped off with the nice ride to places I haven't seen in a long time. We are in a wonderful area of Illinois, a lot like SW Wisconsin. Our own area of God's country. You can have the New England in the fall give me the midwest any time. Everyone enjoy this week as it sounds perfect. The farmers will be roaring thru the ripe fields. Only the UP could be better.

Love today's photos. The Autumn ones, the gathering crops one, and the Bond Falls one should be in Ideals magazine.

The tree colors are not as coordinated as they have been in the past years but, they are beautiful. Captain Paul was right about the trees near the lake, too warm at night.
If you want to see some gorgeous colors go to Lake Gogebic:
I have the oldest and largest oak in Berkley. Unfortunatly for me it stays green well into December. Then I have to fight snow in order to get the leaves up. I wish it would get some color and not just brown.

Hi Bill, I also like the shots of Bumbletown Hill. My Great Grandparents homesteaded a farm on the Hill when they arrived from Finland. My Grandfather inherited the farm from them and kept it until the family sold it and moved into Mohawk to work in the Copper Mine.
I love hearing stories about when people were growing up in the Keweenaw and the stories they have to tell. I love to talk to people and listen to the stories they have to tell and how many people remember my grandparents restaurant they had in Calumet when my mom was growing up.
I love talking to people, especially the older people, they have a lot to say. (*_*)

I'm facinated by the name of Bumbletown. Can anyone give me a little headups about the name, settlers, how the name came about? Just where is it, near Calumet?

I was the only one of my moms kids who loved to go around with my mom and listen to stories of when she was growing up in Calumet and go to different places with her. I enjoyed it.

The book is out of print, but there are copies available in several bookstores throughout the Keweenaw; your best chance is at Bookworld in Houghton, Copper World in Calumet, or Swede's in Copper Harbor.

You can also try an library interloan of the book. Just go to your local library and they will tell you whether they can get it or not.
