Is that "main fair building" still standing? Where is/was it?

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Thursday, September 22, 2011 - 08:35 am:

Good Friday Eve!!

All the photos are wonderful, but personally I'm biased towards the 2009 photo..... ;-)

I was so excited to be first that I didn't use my higher level thinking skills!

Deb...very impressive.

By Tom (Tom) on Thursday, September 22, 2011 - 10:44 am:

Capt Paul it took a second look at that 2009 picture before I recognized you!! And the name.
Bet you wished you were a miner of that vintage!! Ha.
My father was a miner but they had drilling equip.
He said the hardest part of the job was setting up
the drill. Depending on how many holes you had
to drill meant how many setups. He once told me that initially the miners drilled a horizontal tunnel and the stopes were developed from them. later they followed the vein of copper. So the tunnel kind of followed a path wherever. Made the job harder.

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Thursday, September 22, 2011 - 02:11 pm:

Actually Tom, that is my lovely wife Dr. Nat holding the drill steel while I shot the photo. I can believe the set-up would be the hadest part, especially the Burleigh Drills which were over 600 lbs fully assembled.

I'm gussing one had to be a "Burleigh" man to move such equipment...... J

Fine photos. Some are Autumn themed, which reminds me,
Autumn officially begins at 5:04 AM Eastern time tomorrow.

You guys will have to pardon me for the smilies, I'm in the process of learning how to post pictures. :)

Yep, Thomas, the fall equinox is upon us. Everytime I look at the trees turning, I think to myself, "It's their way of saying goodbye till next spring.".
