Do ya really think that's a yawn? Or is he hollering?

Two weeks for me, too! One day traveling from our place in Aura on Keweenaw Bay to the Keweenaw (Harbor Haus!) and one day towards the Porkies. The other day will be for everything else, like Pte. Abbaye.

Elmo's tower, from 1998, that was a long time ago. Is the tower still there? I seem to remember it was removed some time ago. What a great firewatch tower — especially for spotting "St. Elmo's fire"? (I've seen that as a glowing 'electric blue' halo around my propeller arc on a flight through southern New Mexico with thunderstorm cells in the vicinity — but 20+ miles off the airway.)

Great pics. The red oak leaves are especially nice.

Always wondered about the firewatch towers. Wonder how long a man had to stay up there on the lookout for fires??? Wonder what they got paid??? There is still one standing in the Twin Lakes area.

On another note; The cougar scare in Ontonagon is over, at least for now. :)

Also, an albino deer, living in the Ewen area and seen by many, was killed in a car accident today. Sad.

The leaves have really turned inland. The best place right now for prime colors is on M26 between Toivola and Painesdale. Absolutely gorgeous. As for near the shore, the landscape is "slowly" being painted.

All would be answered concerning fire towers if one asked Ranger Gord.....
