Is the house in the 2006 picture taken along the Chassell side of the Portage Canal, near the Jacobsville lighthouse? I could have sworn I saw that while on one of the dinner tours a couple of years ago. Really nice picture!!

I have to wish my hubby, Mr. Deb, a Happy Birthday!!! I hope he has a great day today!! Think I'll buy him a cake. No time to make him one. He won't care. He just loves cake!!!

Good Morning! Did you hear that John Wallace of Chassell, who worked at the Portage Lake District Library in Houghton, was mauled to death by a grizzly bear in Yellowstone National Park last week? He was hiking at the time, an activity he loved. He was the second human fatality caused by a grizzly within Yellowstone National Park this year, actually within about six weeks, and the third attack on a human. RIP, Mr. Wallace.

Last year, there were two grizzly-caused fatalities, just outside Yellowstone, near the northeast entrance to the park, but neither were within the park boundaries.

Happy birthday to Mr. Deb from Coldwater. My brother Lee and his wife Isabel are celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary today. As they are well into their 90s, I'm afraid they don’t do a lot of celebrating any more.
