Good Morning
First Post
Hi Bob. Some unexpected Sunday morning tasks delayed our arrival. Glad to see somebody made it on time.

Nice pics...lots of wildlife. That reminds me, I have not been to the zoo in years.

I LOVE the 2009 picture of the porcupine. (*_*)

A little late "Good Morning".

Good morning, everybody!! Slept in today and it felt so great!!

So in Dan's 2001 photo, is that one a frog or a toad?? And I love his winter scene picture!!

Have a great Sunday everybody!! Cloudy here so don't know for sure what's going on. I'm sure we could use some more rain. It's been

Great photography.

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Sunday, August 21, 2011 - 01:32 pm:

Alex, the Dr. and I were at the Zoo when we visited Berkely last month. Things haven't changed much; the wildlife still run around like a bunch of wild crazies (oh, and the animals were fun to see, too!! ;-)

Great photos for a Sunday afternoon, especially when one is trying to beat this 102° heat by staying in the AC....

A Happy Birthday greeting to our fellow pasty person Janie T. Never ask a lady her age. But she has to be very young at heart with all her wheels, 2 and 4 wheeled, those wonderful four-legged friends and always a smile in her posts. Have a healthy and loving next year girl.

By Hollidays (Hollybranches) on Sunday, August 21, 2011 - 04:47 pm:

Happy Birthday Janie T.
Not a good day for my dog, Yooper Joe. He's only 8 years old and he's mad that he can't catch any squirrels today.
Weather was perfect today, low 70s, sweatshirt weather and sunny. Gitchee Gumee has been roaring up a storm. Northwest wind is the best.

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Sunday, August 21, 2011 - 07:02 pm:

Deb...I believe that is one of those tree frogs like yesterday’s photo. I did a Google search for photos and I could not believe how small they are. The frog yesterday, looked like Jabba the Hut. http://www.pbase.com/image/2564925
Capt. Paul...I will probably hit the zoo in the fall when it cools down. They say that is when the wildlife becomes more active, along with the animals. Did they make you check in your pistols at the front gate?

By Dr. Nat (Drnat) on Sunday, August 21, 2011 - 07:40 pm:

Happy birthday, Janie T! May you have many, many more!

I have to be back at work tomorrow. And to think, ten days ago I was enjoying Elysium… I mean, I was enjoying the Keweenaw, which is a paradise on earth. But really, sweatshirt weather when the temperature is in the low 70s?! I always thought that was a nice, warm summer day. When I lived far in the north, we would swim in the North Sea when the air temperature was in the low 60s. Sweater weather did not begin until frosty mornings greeted the day. But maybe that’s just my Viking blood showing.

By the way, it was fantastic meeting many wonderful pastycammers while the Capt. and I were UP there.

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Sunday, August 21, 2011 - 07:51 pm:

Sweatshirt weather.... in the low 70's..... seriously?!?!?!

Didn't take them Alex, even though I should have; some of those dinosaurs looked a bit menacing. ;-)

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Sunday, August 21, 2011 - 07:58 pm:

Thank You for the birthday wishes. Michelle and I had a nice weekend together. Bob and my brothers are having a great time motorcycling around, and taking in all the beauty of Lake Superior. They will be rolling into Sault Ste Marie, Mi. tomorrow. Staying by the locks. Almost like tracking Santa when he makes his Christmas deliveries. A bit of a quiet birthday with him away. He's always been by my side since my 18th birthday.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Sunday, August 21, 2011 - 08:52 pm:

I know I've already said it elsewhere, but Happy Birthday, Janie!!

Alex, thanks for the info. We get tree frogs here and they are so very small, and totally green.

Nat, I would DIE if I were to swim in weather like that, lol. It was in the low 70's last night and we brought the granddaughter to the beach. I did NOT go in the water. However, I was in shorts :)

By Dr. Nat (Drnat) on Sunday, August 21, 2011 - 09:12 pm:

Deb,
It was funny when I was a kid. Mum, my brother and I would swim in the North Sea and think nothing of it. My father (who grew up in slightly warmer climes) would look at us like we were crazy and refuse to go into the water. On occasion, Father still thinks I'm crazy, and not just when I'm swimming. After all, I did marry Paul. :)

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Sunday, August 21, 2011 - 09:20 pm:

Hey Nat,
People around here think the same thing about me for swimming in Lake Superior so much. But even the people around here are tough enough that they don't wear sweatshirts in 70 degree weather. Lots of people in the lake last night. It was probably warmer than the air, lol.

And I get your dad. I've met Paul :-)

By Michael Du Long (Mikie) on Sunday, August 21, 2011 - 10:16 pm:

Happy birthday Janie. Nat, gave me a chuckle about your dad and Paul. Alex if you get into trouble at the zoo, just call I am right around the block. Or were you talking about the "Zoo" on Eight Mile? Except for the time I lived in Europe, I always managed to go into at least one of the great lakes. This year might be my downfall. We are going to the State Park at Algonac for Labor Day to watch the boats on the river. Going to spend a few days there.

Happy Belated Birthday, Janie! You can always celebrate it again when Bob gets home from his trip, extending your celebration. :-)
