Summer is the most colorful time of year and Sally Beaudette sent us a few good examples of why. Butterflies and flowers add so much to the magic of summer in the Copper Country, with the butterflies flitting about from bud to bud. Kind of reminds me of a colorful bow, added to an already beautiful package. I'm not certain on the species of the butterfly or the flower either, so I'm hoping that someone will "jump in" and help me out here, today. In the meantime, just stop and "smell" the flower and enjoy the photos!

Sally, I'm so glad these made it on here. I thought they were gorgeous the first time I saw them.

Beautiful!!

Nice photos! The flowers look like they might be zinnias ... don't know about the butterfly, though.

The butterfly looks to be a Swallowtail.

Great color combinations! It amazes me how butterflies have survived all these eons, they seem so fragile.

By Helen Marie Chamberlain (Helen) on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 - 09:24 am:

Oh, such color, oh such beauty. Great captures.
Thank you!

Good call on both the flowwer and the butterfly. The flower is a Zinnia and the butterfly is a Tiger Swallowtail.

Looks like that Swallowtail was in some sort of dust up or something. He's got a big divit out of his left wing. Wonder if it affects his flight?
