Deb,you were lucky. We lost power at about 11:30 last night, and it's still out. There were some big winds, but since there was no power, the weather station didn't report them. Thankfully, I and PastyNet have generator backup...

That must have been quite a wind! As I write, UPPCO is still showing five outages in their "Houghton District", with 279 customers (71.5%) affected in ZIP code 49918, and 112 customers (8.15%) affected in ZIP code 49950!

The storm was mild last night. All we heard was the "big lake" splashing and tumbling across the beach. It was a noise that we had been missing for quite a while. Saw our "bucky" marking his spot around the deer block this morning. He's making sure nobody gets his snack and no one else is. Getting ready for the fresh strawberries from Chassel. Strawberryfest is next weekend, best strawberries we ever had. The berry bushes have all flowered and I know that the bears are all on the move now. They get them before we do. Have a great Saturday, yoops.

I heard that the Curling Club in Calumet lost it's roof in that storm, so I can imagine other damage in Calumet. I hope everyone is ok, and that no one was injured.

It looks like UPPCO finally got it together, as of 6:45PM (EDT) there's just one lonesome customer still without power in their "Houghton District"!
Just another rough and thankless job, like the firefighters and police.

Power finally came back here in the field at 5:30 - an 18 hour outage! Believe me, I was tired of hearing that generator, even though it saved me. I think we just got the end of the storm. There was a lot of lightning, a little thunder, and whoosh! Bang! Crash! All that wind. Unfortunately, with the power out, the NWS station wasn't reporting, so we'll never know how strong it was, but I had a hard time closing the porch door, which means it was over 40 mph. While I'm really sorry for the outage and all the damage it caused further south, I just love thunderstorme!

Sounds like similar weather weather we had here 2 weeks back. Straight line winds blew a big tree down on our fence, 6 of my 13 horses got out, thankfully they went to the back of the house area instead of the county highway we live on.
