When it rains here in the Keweenaw, it pours - and as a result we end up with some pretty big puddles. Patty Rheault (behind the camera) and her grandkids (in the puddles) teamed up together to show us the proper way to play in them. They started out small, with "river building" and just getting their hands a little wet. It didn't take long before they moved on to bigger and wetter things, as they started running through the puddles and finally just jumped right in for some "full contact" puddle play. There must be something magnetic in water puddles, because children are drawn right into them. Not everyone wanted to get soaking wet, though, so out came the battery powered jeep, which I'm sure made more than a couple trips through the water, too. Fun times at Grandma's.

Nice to see good old fashion kid's play hasn't totally been done away with everywhere.

Who needs a swimming pool?? What fun pictures these are. Oh to be young again. Oh well, my mind tells me I'm still young at heart, lol!!

These reminded me of some of the workers at Gitche Gumee on a rainy day, in the early years of the Pasty Cam back in 1998.

These pictures are totaly wonderful!!!!!! Especially the one little guy getting into it. Such joy! Don't we sometimes wish we could let go just for the heck of it?!

One of the most simple child hood pleasures yet all you ever hear as a child is "stay out of the water". I wish I could have been there to play in the puddle. Being 49 my mother lets me make most of my own choices now. I like the yooper shed. My grandpa built a simple one like that but he used four colors. That was thirty four years ago and it is still multi colored.

These are so wonderful! Kids as kids should be! Lucky, lucky little things to have such a fun Grandma as Patty! God Bless you Patty....what wonderful memories these kids will have....and you will definitely be the FAVORITE! LOL

ahhhhh....innocence of childhood! Patty, hope that little 'pond' didn't run over into your nice garden.

Pud muddles - Yay!!

When my brother and I were kids, we would play around making mini rivers, levees, and dams after the rain. We called the game "Army Corps of Engineers."
