746 feet

Good morning everybody! Supposed to be a hot day today!!
Second
If that was true, Lake Michigan waves would lap over the deck of Cut River Bridge

By JH (Thumbgardener) on Thursday, June 16, 2011 - 08:04 am:

I agree with Paul, 587 Ft.

Yup, Capt Paul. Forgot to subtract. I, too believe it's 587.

Nice, Charlie!!

Even though most websites claim Lake Michigan averages 577 feet above sea level.....

Or the deck of the bridge must wiggle up and down

By Dunerat (Dunerat) on Thursday, June 16, 2011 - 09:40 am:

This morning as I left for work, I peered over the edge of the dune, and it sure seemed like Lake Michigan was about 9 feet higher than normal. I was pretty confused about it until I checked the Pasty Cam. Still, I think maybe a few beach toys floated away overnight.

The Wikipedia article on the Cut River bridge shows the newer MDOT sign, which has the same numbers on it. Anyone know the story behind the discrepancy? By the way, historic data for Lake Michigan during the 1941-1946 construction period show water levels very close to average. Maybe the surveyor just didn't notice the massive sieche that day?

So who saw Jim Cantore's visit to the U.P. on the Weather Channel last night? He was at the I-500 in the Soo, the Pond Hockey Tournament in St. Ignace, with the Coast Guard in the Soo, ice climbers at Pictured Rocks, and kite skiers in Negaunee.

Hey Robert ~

Sorry we missed it! Nice that the UP got some good press from the National media!
