Name at least 6 Michigan towns or villages whose names appear in today's review.

By DEAN SCHWARTZ SR. (Lulu) on Friday, June 3, 2011 - 06:19 am:

Good Morning :)

While you didn't win the Early Bird, Dean, it appears you did win a prize in the last month's contest (May contest)

By Trollperson (Trollperson) on Friday, June 3, 2011 - 06:28 am:

Arcadia, Eagle Harbor, Mason, Seven Mile Point, Lake Linden, Keweenaw Mtn. Lodge

not qualified = Seven Mile Point, Keweenaw Mtn. Lodge

By Trollperson (Trollperson) on Friday, June 3, 2011 - 06:31 am:

Still have only 5 so far

By Cindy, New Baltimore, MI (Cindy) on Friday, June 3, 2011 - 06:31 am:

I can only find four - Hancock, Eagle Harbor, Lake Linden, Mason.
Not quite
There are 6 potential correct answers in the 4 you have named

By Chuck K (Chuckclarkston) on Friday, June 3, 2011 - 06:35 am:

Hancock, Eagle Harbor, Mason, Lake Linden, The arcadian sign is just outside of Dollar Bay And the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge is just outside of Copper Harbor.
not quite
But those names do not appear (Dollar Bay, Copper Harbor)

By Cindy, New Baltimore, MI (Cindy) on Friday, June 3, 2011 - 06:47 am:

Hancock, Eagle Harbor, Lake Linden, Mason, Arcadia, Eagle?
First Post
That is 6, although Arcadia is not a town or village, but is an "unincorporated community" with its own zip code

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Friday, June 3, 2011 - 06:51 am:

Good Morning. Hancock, Eagle Harbor, Lake Linden, Mason, Arcadia
IRD
Still only 5

By RD, Iowa (Rdiowa) on Friday, June 3, 2011 - 06:53 am:

Building on the previous research:

1. Hancock, Mi
2. Eagle Harbor, Mi
3. Eagle, Mi
4. Lake Linden, Mi
5. Linden, Mi
6. Mason, Mi
First Post
All 6 are in fact Michigan towns or villages

By Cindy, New Baltimore, MI (Cindy) on Friday, June 3, 2011 - 06:55 am:

Whew, that was a lot of work, Charlie! I'm wide awake now. Have a great day, everyone!

By DEAN SCHWARTZ SR. (Lulu) on Friday, June 3, 2011 - 06:58 am:

Charlie, for some reason the "what's -up will not show pictures on the p.c. at work.

It may not have Flash installed.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Friday, June 3, 2011 - 06:59 am:

That's interesting: two of the six are actually in the Lower Peninsula. I made the rash assumption that they had to be in the U.P.

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Friday, June 3, 2011 - 07:59 am:

Congrats Cindy & RD...that looks like a final exam question on a geography test. :)

By Marsha, Genesee/Aura (Marsha) on Friday, June 3, 2011 - 10:16 am:

Aura tomorrow!

By kay Moore (Mskatie) on Friday, June 3, 2011 - 10:37 am:

So Cap't Paul tell me about those type of rocks at Seven Mile Point. Also I'm begining to wonder if the boss is running out of new questions to ask each morning. Getting awful picky eh?

By kay Moore (Mskatie) on Friday, June 3, 2011 - 10:40 am:

Well maybe picky isn't the word...maybe complicated.

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Friday, June 3, 2011 - 11:32 am:

MsKatie,
Without actually seeing them firsthand, I would say they are part of the Lake Shore Traps, a section of lava flows within the Copper Harbor Conglomerate. These flows appear near the top of the Conglomerate and are composed of (likely) tholeiitic andesites at this location. Obviously, they have been sculpted into those odd shapes by the Lake and ice.

I'm guessing this is one spot I'll have to visit in August for myself and snap a few pics.

By jbuck (Jbuck) on Friday, June 3, 2011 - 01:45 pm:

I'd like to lobby to have the May 31st picture added to the WOW cache!!

Mary says: It's a done deal, jbuck. Just have to wait for them to get posted on the WOW page, now. :-)

By Thomas Baird (Thomas) on Friday, June 3, 2011 - 03:09 pm:

By jbuck (Jbuck) on Saturday, June 4, 2011 - 08:58 am:
