Barb Bouwkamp is the lucky one today. She not only took all three photos, but she was actually right there in person, getting to smell the scent of these beautiful apple blossoms she found. Scenes like this and the scents that normally come from them, are definitely one of the main reasons that Springtime in the Keweenaw is a special time of year. Everything is awakening and coming back to life.

Fabulous....the apple blossoms...especially in some areas that are/were orchards...look like HUGE bouquets from God! And the smell...it's just simply divine!

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Monday, June 13, 2011 - 08:45 am:

then there's beyond the blossoms...apple pie, apple crisp, apple butter, apple jelly, cinnamon applesauce............

Janie... a woman of my own kind :) WOW what a grand way to start the week. Thanks Mary. Can almost smell the fragrance down here.

Beautiful blossoms!!
I'm SO excited because we're driving to the UP on
Friday. We've rented a house for our first road trip with our
8 month old puppies, and we are crossing our fingers that
they turn out to be good travelers. Spending Friday night at
our favorite stopping point, the White Pine Lodge in
Christmas, because we think the drive from Detroit to Eagle
Harbor might be too much for "the girls." Can't wait to get
back to the Big Lake!!!

Are the lilacs through blooming in the CC?
Going up Quincy Hill and then continuing on toward Menard there are many lilac bushes? All wild but
what a sight and smell. I usually am in the CC
about that time. Not this year.

By Sharon I. Smith (Sharons) on Monday, June 13, 2011 - 10:52 am:

Tom - Yes, the lilacs are out. They're even coming in Copper Harbor.

Very nice, especially the color combination in the top photo...love that blue sky. Makes me want to stretch out in a hammock and take a nap.

We have 4 little, baby skunks at the end of our yard. As close as I was able to get to them, to take pictures, never saw mom anywhere. We stood out there for about an hour watching them play as I took pictures. There is one tiny one, like the runt, and they were playing with each other and rolling around. Never saw mom.

Sure are cute, but, keeping our distance.

By Donna (Donna) on Monday, June 13, 2011 - 12:55 pm:

Mickill...there were some living under a building that was on the property where I lived awhile back.....They are just adorable...but adult in the smell! I'd throw out pieces of lunchmeat and watch them body wrestle for it. OMG...Seriously adorable. Cute, cute, cute!

And Janie...you make my mouth water!

Gorgeous apple blossom photos! I really hope we have a far better apple crop here in mid-Michigan, this year than we had last year!

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Monday, June 13, 2011 - 03:48 pm:

I just remembered a line from the movie “The Last Samurai” and during the movie Katsumoto (a samurai) said that you could spend your whole life looking for a perfect blossom and it would not be a wasted life.
Then at the end of the movie as he was looking at the petals falling from the trees, with his last dying breath he said "They are all perfect".

By Therese (Therese) on Monday, June 13, 2011 - 05:42 pm:

Alex, that reminds me how a person can spend his or her whole life looking for the perfect person to love, then one day realize that they all are worthy of love, because they are our brothers and sisters through God. I think of the boundless love of Mother Teresa -- love as a verb, not a noun.

WE have SEVEN (7) baby skunks out back and I would like to know how you would get rid of them????? I really do not think they spray yet because I would have have got it several times over taking pictures of them. They are very cute but, they do get bigger. ;O( The momma does not seem to be around.

I thought of getting a big fishing net and scoop them up into a box and take them into the woods. I DO NOT WANT TO HARM THEM IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM, just want them out of the yard.

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Monday, June 13, 2011 - 06:38 pm:

Bill just said would anybody like them? HE delivers. LOL...

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Monday, June 13, 2011 - 07:34 pm:
