It was a bright, sunny morning last week, a break in between the stormy, windy days that the Lake Linden-Hubbell Elementary school held their annual Track and Field day. You can see in the first photo that those kids mean business as they all listen intently to the instructions they're being given before they begin. Once the action starts there are several events taking place at the same time. Here we get a peek at the softball throw, then one of the girls foot races, with Kyra Rose, in the lead. The final two shots are of one of the boys races. In the second to the last photo, the boy with the orange stripe on his shorts (second from the left), is my grandson. In the last photo, he's the young man on the left, checking to see how close the competitor to the right of him is. Days like these are just as much fun for the parents and grandparents, as it is for the kids themselves. Lots of excitement!

Awesome stuff!!! And to have Grandma as your personal cheerleader...does it get any better?

So much fun to go and watch those things. My grandson had that last week. Today is the last day of school for kids out here. Let summer begin!

Enjoy the pictures again today, appropo with the track listings in the GAZETTE. Our elementary school has track "gathering" on last Friday of he school year and then for an hour they are sprayed by the local fire department from up on the high boom. Their screams can be heard from blocks away.

I keep forgetting how early kids finish school back in the States.
The last day of school here is the 29th of June. Sports days are
much the same in the two countries and take place in the last week
of school. Unlike where Eddyfitz is living, the kids at our school
make do with water balloons to cool off rather than help from the
fire department.
