We've had some storms pass through UP North this past week and thanks to Donna MacIntosh and Linda Schneller, we get a front row seat to some crashing waves and churning clouds. Donna was snapping her shots of Lake Superior, from the Marquette Upper Harbor breakwall, just waiting for the perfect time to snap her shutter and capture the waves as they smashed against the concrete breakwall. The fury of Superior at her finest.

Linda's unusual cloud photo, was snapped right out the front window of her home in Bootjack, as she watched this huge storm cloud form across the way, rolling and churning its way toward her. I'm guessing there may have been a little thunder, lightning and rain involved with a cloud that threatening looking. Thanks for the great captures of the forces of nature at work, ladies!

One of the many fascinating moods of Lake Superior! Love it!

Beautiful photos today. These certainly make me want to go to Marquette. WOW!!!

By Donna (Donna) on Saturday, June 4, 2011 - 09:44 am:

I went w/a dear friend for a conference in MQT. After, she says "Wanna take a spin around Presque Isle Park?" I said "SURE...it's been years"...so off we went. Over near the breakwall, there were a bunch of guys in camo doing some drills...and she says "WOW...look at all the guys over there...I wonder what they are doing?" And I was looking all around, and couldn't see any...I kept saying "where?" and she'd say "RIGHT THERE"....and I finally saw them, and told her "Well...they are dressed in CAMO!!! I'm NOT supposed to see them!! See how good that stuff works???" LOL

And it didn't make a bit of difference that the weather was gloomy...the sun is always shining when you are with dear friends!

And what a cloud picture. Whoa...that one means business!

Fantastic pics, and as I always say, "I wish I was in Marquette right now." Spent many hours out at the upper harbor breakwall while at NMU.
Very nice, thanks!

That first picture has clouds playing follow the leader. We finally got a break in the rain so far today near Seattle. It's rained every day for the past week with very little sun and only once some thunder. Grew up mostly in Marquette to the sounds of the old fog horns on foggy days. Nice Pictures. Thanks.

I hear that U.C...I have seen myself getting up on a Saturday morning here in Troy and driving up to Presque Isle in Marquette for the day, then driving back home at night. It's a lot of driving (8 hours), but it is worth it.

Richard, great perception on the clouds playing tag. When I went back to view the photo, it reminded me of leap frog. Thanks for the smile.

Presque Isle Park in Marquette is one of my favorite places in the UP. Alex, you do mean 8 hours each way, right?? Notroll, those old fog horns in Marquette were the best! :)
