Bob Gilreath and his wife Liz recently headed out behind their house for a walk and they brought back some photos of the beauty they encountered along the way. I can hear the city folks wheels turning, thinking that this just couldn't be "behind their house," but it is. That's the beauty of living in the Keweenaw, you can walk right out your back door and find scenes of beauty like Bob's first two shots. Then when you look a little closer at your surroundings, you spot things like the dainty, blue flowers or the sprouting leaves, in deep, rusty colors. Bob's last photo gives hope to all the berry picking, jam making, thimbleberry hunters. Those are some healthy looking leaves, with the promise of some dark, red berries to come.

I love wild flowers. These are nice pictures today! Wednesday I found, the hard way, a new patch of poison ivy on our property.
