Were the towers on top of Bumbletown Hill associated with the old Radar Base? Always wondered what they were.

As far as we know, the Bumbletown towers have been used for air traffic communications in conjunction with the Houghton County Airport.

Good morning!! I absolutely love snowy owls!!

Hope everybody has a great day. Reached almost 90 here yesterday, so of course the storms had to come also. Very dark out there this morning. Sure hope we don't get any more.

I love the owls too. I woke up to 4 inches of snow (Evergreen, CO) and it is supposed to snow all day. After having to prepare to evacuate for wildfires twice so far this spring, I am not complaining in the least!

Just rain here west of Fort Collins Colorado at 5400'. Unlike other parts of the country, we can sure use the rain. No complaints. Keep it coming!!

That Snowy Owl is awesome! I remember one time, driving home after an afternoon shift, I saw (what I thought was) one of those white plastic grocery bags floating in the air, and then it came at my windshield and I saw the eyes...and it went up right before it would have whacked the car. Wow. BIG bird!

One spring in Door Co. Wi there was a huge snowy owl hanging around a certain barn roof for a good week. I t was huge when sited in flight!. But today your photo of the switchboard and operator brings back fond memories of my youth. "Time and charges please". Oh my, another life time...sigh. Good grief I hope not another day of 93 degrees today!

Going to fill up the Hummie feeder tomorrow. It should be only a few days 'til they get here again. We collected .95" of rain the last two days here in Cornell.
