Again this morning much of the U.P. awoke to a blanket of white. But then, that's what the U.P. is known for... "If you don't like the weather, just wait a minute and it will change." But no matter the weather, be it sunshine, clouds, rain, sleet or snow, the crocuses always seem to poke their heads out this time of year and today we have some great shots of them to brighten your day.

The first two are from Joyce Tormala, giving us some purple and white beauties fully opened and some with their feet getting wet, but thriving despite the wet conditions they're in.

The last two are from Melanie Hakala Rossi, who brings us up close and personal with the white variety and an all purple one, too. Such vivid color and so detailed you can see the veins running through the petals. So much beauty to behold here UP North!

What a gorgeous sign of spring!!! We've had some out for quite some time now. Though I haven't noticed if they're still there after all the horrible weather we've had!!

Happy Spring!!

Good Morning! I love the flowers, especially the closeups by Melanie Hakala Rossi. We are headed up to Copper Country this coming Wednesday, to pick up our youngest son, after he completes his freshman year at Michigan Tech. The weather forecast isn't very promising for Thursday right now, with rain mixed with snow. I'm hoping for nice weather, so we can better enjoy our trip up Lakeshore Drive to Copper Harbor that day, but, we'll go either way. Lake Superior and the waterfalls are still pretty in the rain mixed with snow, but they're harder to see. We had cold rain when we did that trip in early May 2008, when our oldest son graduated from Tech. My fingers are crossed for better weather this week! :-)

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Saturday, April 23, 2011 - 05:20 pm:

Went shopping for a daffodil centerpiece for my table that the grocery store had TONS of on Thursday, and they were gone today!! So I got pink tulips. They're beautiful!! There were mums too, but I'm wanting something springy. They did have a beautiful container of hyacinths, but I have a bunch of them outside. Wish they would have had crocuses. These pictures are beautiful!
