Can you believe it? In our 14th year of bringing a picture each day from the U.P., and we haven't missed one yet. I'd like to tell you how we almost did today, but you'll have to check back here tomorrow for the rest of the story. It has been a most unusual weekend, and we are looking forward to a fun month, for April, as we stroll down Memory Lane around Lake Michigamme, over in Marquette County. There are some landmarks here that bring back memories for me personally - like Van Riper State Park - and I promise I'll be back in a few hours to continue...

All the Niemi boys worked at Van Riper at one time or another. Those were a lot of fun years - before they had to start pulling out the rafts and docks!!!

If this was taken recently, that's still a lot of snow 4 April 3rd!

You should read the "Northwoods Reader Series", all eight of them, plus Cully Gage's "A Love Affair with the U.P." first. Then visit Van Riper State Park and the surrounding area.
This should be required of all residents and visitors of our marvelous area of the planet.

I love the Northwood Reader Series! I have read most of it over the years.
