At this time of year I start to go a little stir crazy looking at Lake Michigan and not seeing big lake boats out there. It's not uncommon to have to wait a week after they open the Sault locks before we see anything come near us. Tonight, we at least have a boat out on the water off Muskegon. Probably a research vessel from the Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory; they can get out there because they tie up in the Muskegon River channel, which has open water most of the winter. Very nice and placid to see them out there tonight. Good night, all.
