Even though the Pasty Cam Calendar says that spring is just around the corner, all of us folks UP North know winter still has a grip on us. Frederic W. Koski shares a couple photos to help remind us, just in case we've forgotten, that winter isn't over 'til the last snowflake falls.

Fred sure did a nice job capturing the feeling of the snow closing in on your surroundings when it starts falling fast and heavy, it almost resembles a shroud of fog coming down. It won't be long before these daily photos begin to show less and less of the white stuff and more and more of the signs of spring.

A few inches here this morning in SE-MI as well and the drivers are finally getting the hang of it just as winter is almost over...go figure.

Remember the "ant races" on tv...when you first turned it on (by getting up and walking to the tv...no remote!!) and waiting for it to "warm up" and then you got one or two channels....and you always had that "static" look just before the channel came on....it sorta looks like that! :D (wow...sounds like a real OLD TIMER talking too, eh?)

GREAT pics, as usual!

If "winter isn't over until the last snowflake falls", then apparently winter never ends in the Keweenaw! I've heard from many long time residents that they've seen snow in every month of the year. Quite rare to have snowfall in the warmer months, but it does happen.

Back in my days at Tech, I had a friend that as a joke set up this old tv with no antenna attached and would turn it on, getting only the snowflake. She hung a sign over it that read "Channel 13, Yooper Weather Station"..... hey, we thought it was quite funny!! J

Dale; I have seen snow every month of the year in the UP. Not many places in the country can match that, especially in the lower 48.

It's Howdy Doody time, It's Howdy Doody time. I believe William Shatner was on Howdy Doody.

The Keweenaw isn't the only place that it snows every month of the year. Back in the seventies, my husband and I left Wayne County Michigan early one Saturday morning in July, and it was hot. We were headed for the Keweenaw for a two week vacation. We had shorts and T tops on and the top down on our car. As we drove through Flint, it started snowing like crazy. People were looking at us like we were crazy. Within fifteen minutes we drove out of it. It warmed up nicely, and we dried off shortly thereafter.

Today is my 21st annual 39th birthday. I am celebrating by sharing a new article, which is known as a Squidoo lens, that I wrote about Lake Superior. As one of my visitors noted, it is "a superb blend of History, Geography, Personal Memories and Family History, with some wonderful photographs. The family history is about Isle Royale, and the wonderful photographs are courtesy of pasty.com.
