Judy Byykkonen knows just how to stave off any cabin fever feelings here in the Keweenaw winter months...she gets out there on her skis and lets her worries melt away as she takes in nature's decorations along the way. From the piled high snow on the branches, to the covered rocks in the river, these scenes are just what the Dr. ordered to get you out of the doldrums of winter. Get outdoors for a walk, a ski or just stand there and take it all in...you can't stop and smell the roses this time of year, but you can pause and enjoy the beauty that surrounds you.

Blue skies...I almost forgot what that looked like.

Beautiful wintertime pictures! We are going to lose a lot of our snow, with temps in the 30's and 40's coming up.

There's nothing quite like a trek into winter's forests. It's quiet, peaceful and the stillness of winter is something you won't forget.

And to notice the blue colors of the shadows.
Also the snow crystals glint in the sunlight. It really is beautiful if you take the time to look.

Roses are fine, too, but the crisp, clean, refreshing smell of winter snow in the pines is wonderfully cleansing and invigorating.

I can't tell how high the "arch" in the first photo is. It might be what I call a "short-person trail" (I've lost a few hats off my head on those, even though I am short). ;>)
