There are a number of different varieties of snow all around the U.P. and today we get a visual of the light, fluffy kind. Donna MacIntosh shows us puffs of snow that have settled on some type of dried plant or weed. I wonder how many snowflakes it takes to make a pile like that? And to think that a small gust of wind could knock it all down in seconds. But in the meantime, Donna captured a close-up of the snow, where you can see some of those individual flakes standing out in the sunshine.
The last photo was taken when I was out snowshoeing and stopped to adjust my straps. I noticed the white flakes standing out against the black of my mitten and snapped this shot before disturbing them to cover up my quickly chilling fingers. I love the different shapes and sizes you can see in these few specimens of winter's detailed beauty.

So interesting to be able to actually SEE the detail of those flakes. You don't see that very often and I loved the chance to do it this morning.

Hi Beautiful shots of snow in the sunshine. We've been lucky this winter in SE Michigan to not only have snow on the ground but to have powder snow (at least, that's how I see it).

Beautiful snowflakes! That's the kind I like to see. They are a not only pretty, but they make the shovel a lot lighter.

Remember the stamps with the snow flakes? Four different ones. One of which was from Houghton.

I took those the same day I was playing with the neighbor "kids"...
All 4 seasons that we get to live in...are so beautiful...even if it's work!
