In which year can we see the most unfrozen water?

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 - 06:18 am:

Good Morning! 2003. But you could argue that 2002 has a whole lot of unfrozen water under that thin layer of ice!

A facebook message this morning from George Hite says he's in San Diego, will return home, but not up to speed yet to update his page. Take care George!

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 - 06:47 am:

George's facebook message revealed his web page maybe over due to health. Sad to read that!

By Rowdy (Roudymi) on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 - 07:47 am:

George's page is my go to place.

By Theresa R. Brunk (Trb0013) on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 - 07:52 am:

I think the new picture of today 2011 has the most unfrozen water.

By Pat & Glenda (Gormfrog) on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 - 07:58 am:

George Hite always offers quality and insightful reading on his web site, we have been missing!

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 - 09:17 am:

I just noticed the little weather thingy on the right side of the main page and saw 21 degrees in Calumet; that's only 2 degrees cooler than it is here this morning!! Not much frost though because it is so dry there's no moisture to create frost. I'm guessing most of the texans are freezing but I was outside earlier and I didn't think it was all that bad.

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 - 09:51 am:

I like the 2005 picture. I wonder what it is looking at. LOL

By Gary W. Long (Gary_in_co) on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 - 10:00 am:

Maybe 2005 was watching Heiki Luunta (sp?) doing his little dance. Or else keeping an eye on that lumberjack sharpening his axe.

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 - 10:44 am:

I think he's checking out that crazy son of a birch.

By Uncle Chuck (Unclechuck) on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 - 11:11 am:

Or that Ash Tree!

By David Hiltunen (Davidcorrytontn) on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 - 11:38 am:

In 2003 water coming out of the hose is not frozen.

By Uncle Chuck (Unclechuck) on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 - 12:25 pm:

12:30, oven is preheated, waiting on FedEx!

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 - 12:44 pm:

Sheesh Alex/UC; those aren't very poplar things to say... ;-)

By Theresa R. Brunk (Trb0013) on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 - 02:01 pm:

'Wood' 'yew' guys knock it off and 'spruce' up the page with real comments about the pictures and 'leave' the ‘beech’(ing) to those better equip. (All said with tongue in cheek)

By Uncle Chuck (Unclechuck) on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 - 03:33 pm:

Good laughs!

Guess what just arrived? Hint.... 12 beauties in the freezer and some old C.C. newspapers to read too! Deb, nice job of packing, they are still frozen thanks Deb!

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 - 05:47 pm:

Oh, UC, my mouth is watering for your pasties, yummy! I've never had a breakfast pasty. What's in those? Enjoy your haul! :-)

By Uncle Chuck (Unclechuck) on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 - 06:47 pm:

Michele, Holidays, and Marianne, Im set for lunch for awhile, 350 degrees for 50 minutes on a baking sheet, even my wife sez I can't screw that U.P.! lol

Marianne, a breakfast pasty has scrambled egg and ham in it, that with the great taste of the pasty crust (and ketchup Holidays) is a great meal! Will have my first one tomorrow, the boss had a taste for chinese tonight.

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 - 07:44 pm:

Can not find good chinese food up here, Lake Linden, Houghton, etc...At least not what Bill and I like.

That must be some pretty cheap "adult" beverage there UC if it froze!! :-P
Enjoy those pasties; we'll be ordering up a batch very soon as well....

By Daveofmohawk (Daveofmohawk) on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 - 10:04 pm:

Interesting bit of trivia on tonight's news. 70% of the lower 48 is covered with snow and 49 states have some snow, Florida is the only state that has none. This has to be some kind of record, that darn "global warming".

By kay Moore (Mskatie) on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 - 10:17 pm:

Well folks my pasties arrived in one day not two. Put 2 in freezer and daughter Jane and I feasted on the other two. We both enjoyed them immensly almost as good as the ones I used to make. She put butter on hers but nothing but catsup for mine. Even have about a third of it for lunch tomorrow. I remember making pasties for the eight of us when kids were young. Seems it took all day to make. Often made wilted lettuce to go with them.
