There are many 'things that slide' in today's decade review. Name at least four of them.

The moon will slide away by the rising sun, and the candle wax will slide down the candle as it heats.

By Rowdy (Roudymi) on Monday, January 10, 2011 - 09:10 am:

Roudy sliding into the seventh post of the day.

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Monday, January 10, 2011 - 12:00 pm:

Wouldn't that hurt just a bit, Rowdy???

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Monday, January 10, 2011 - 12:25 pm:

JT...I like the new profile pic. It looks like it was taken on the surface of the Moon. Where did you get the tickets?

By Uncle Chuck (Unclechuck) on Monday, January 10, 2011 - 01:01 pm:

Yes, nice pic JT!

Pasties on the way Deb sez, should be here by Wednesday! A breakfast pasty for lunch, traditional for dinner, can't wait!

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Monday, January 10, 2011 - 01:21 pm:

Alex & U C...That is me on my snowmobile, Bob took that picture as we were crossing the ice road across Lake Superior between Bayfield Wi. and Madeline Island. Probably 350 ft. of water under us at that spot. You don't need tickets, just a Polaris!

By Uncle Chuck (Unclechuck) on Monday, January 10, 2011 - 02:17 pm:

JT, and a little SISU! lol... not me baby! I love to hear the steelbelts hummin on the asphalt! (as the song goes), Did you have on your water wings just in case? :=))

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Monday, January 10, 2011 - 02:33 pm:

There were dozens of Suburbans/trucks, dog mushers, moutain bikes, the air boat zipping to and from, other snowmobiles, just follow the Christmas tree marked trail across. It was golden all 12 miles!

By Hollidays (Hollybranches) on Monday, January 10, 2011 - 04:47 pm:

Total snowfall in my neck of the woods is 96 inches to date. The ski hills are open and the snowmobilers are buzzing all over. Thank you Gitchee Gumee for the lake powder. Also thank you Gitchee Gumee for sending snow down to the snowbirds in the southern states, hehehe!

By the way, there seem to be some missing images on the Snow Thermometer page....

UC,

Re: your comment about Heikke Lunta.

You're just a pup, i graduate from NMU in '77 (back when people graduated in 4 years). Heikke Lunta was very active in some of those years. Made for some interesting trips home.

By jbuck (Jbuck) on Monday, January 10, 2011 - 08:32 pm:

JT,

Can you get to the lighthouse on Madeline in the Winter?

By Uncle Chuck (Unclechuck) on Monday, January 10, 2011 - 11:09 pm:

Jbuck my beloved brother of NMU, I was at NMU from 76-80 Also graduated in 4 years, BS of Business Mgt and writing my own ticket these days in the field of Medical Sales and calling on the whole state of Michigan, N. IN and N. OH, you can hardly call me a pup! That would be more reserved for Puppy Capt. Paul. I take great pride in completeing my degree in 4 years and the fact Im living like Mikie's Jimmie the fat cat! You might say " Im livin large and in charge"! I long for nothing and I've earned it! N I will live in the Keweenaw in my retirement, with or without the old lady! Go Cats!

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Monday, January 10, 2011 - 11:48 pm:

Good grief; who peppered UC's pasty this evening?? ;-)

By Michael Du Long (Mikie) on Monday, January 10, 2011 - 11:48 pm:

UC, Jimmie the fat white cat has three beds in different parts of the house. But he prefers sleeping with Precious. So he has his own blankie on our bed. Glad it is a king size bed. When Max the cowardly Yorkie was with us we had a different cat. When we got them I stated "no animals in bed with anyone".That only lasted with the cat and dog sleeping with the kids in two days. When they went away to college both animals moved in with us. They were lucky that Precious is so short they would share her side of the bed. Now Jimmie the fat white cat pets my head when he thinks it is time to have breakfast. Often it is at two or three in the morning. He is lucky I am used to him being here.

By Uncle Chuck (Unclechuck) on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 - 12:01 am:

Just a bad day, Jbuck my brother, no offense! Capt. not slighting you, just wish I was still in my 30's, I would have changed a few things. My appologies.

Still holding my own here in Commerce Twp. on Bass Lake!

Heikke Lunta, Let'er go Hoss!

By Uncle Chuck (Unclechuck) on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 - 12:05 am:

Wings lost to to the Av's, maybe that too has my dander U.P. :=)

By Rowdy (Roudymi) on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 - 12:26 am:

Wings LOST? How can that be?

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 - 07:01 am:

JBuck, I'm not sure about your lighthouse question. We only went to Madeline Island's western shoreline and turned around to head back for Bayfield then back to Iron River, Wi. That was our 247 mile trip in one day adventure.

By jbuck (Jbuck) on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 - 07:30 am:

JT ~

Sounds like an awesome trip!

The Light i was probably thinking of is Raspberry Island Light. There are so many in the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore that it seemed like Madeline had one too. What a great way that would be to see the Lights!

By jbuck (Jbuck) on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 - 07:45 am:

Good morning Uncle Chuck ~

No offense taken on my part!

It seems we have a LOT in common. I graduated with a Business Admin ~ Accounting degree. Probably had some of the same profs! The thing we don't have in common, tho i haven't mentioned it before, is gender! The "J" stands for julie!

Have a good one UC ~ nice having another Wildcat to recall the good old days with!

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 - 07:48 am:

We just "pit stopped" at La Point on Madeline. We were not sure about any real snowmobile trails there, so we played it cool. It was an awesome trip, second to our best riding 16 hours non stop riding a few years back.

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 - 08:04 am:

Well, at least the "J" doesn't stand for Joe, as in Joe Buck from Fox Sports. That man definitely needs to be shown that there are more NFL teams than the Dallas Cowpods....... J

By jbuck (Jbuck) on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 - 08:26 am:

Oh yes, we've had many discussions about "Mr. Buck" and his loyalties .......... NO relation BTW!! ;-0
