Yesterday Edie and I drove from Eagle River to Hancock - to work on the Lift Bridge Cam - along the snow-blown route that took us through Calumet, on the street shown here (from about 20 years ago). Jim Alain did a little time-lapse back in the early 90's to show the contrast after the leaves vanished and the snow appeared. It's from a couple of spots along Calumet Avenue, just north of Calumet High School. Jim calls it the two seasons of the Copper Country: Snow and No Snow.
We worked on the Bridge Cam, but still have some tweaking to do. If you want a higher resolution of this shot from yesterday afternoon, click here.
Speaking of time-lapse, when the Bridge Cam replacement is complete, we should have a much better history of the Lift Bridge, with a browseable archive of each day. Who knows? You may be able to see yourself someday, shivering in the land of Snow.
Have a good week :o)
