Barb Bouwkamp didn't let a little Copper Country snow keep her inside this past week. She got right out there in the streets of Laurium to give us a glimpse of living in the snow belt. I'm not sure which streets these are, but they're representative of most of the streets in the Calumet/Laurium area. What a daunting task it is to try to move the snow around when we get this much. You start to run out of room to put it. Barb captured the beauty of the snow, too, when she looked up to the branches laden with an overhang of snow. But it's Barb's last photo that had me chuckling, of course I can do that, since I'm not the one who had to shovel this vehicle out of the mound of snow that's just about hiding it. I guess that car wasn't going anywhere too soon after the picture was snapped.

These pictures bring a smile to me thinking how all this snow would influence my hometown.

....and to think the Weather Channel people are all in a tizzy about some snow in the east. They need to come here and see how we handle it. ;>)

Can anyone tell me what streets those are? Specifically the first picture. I think the second one is down near Isle Royale street and my guess is that the first one is Pewabic over by the bandshell park.

After a second look I'm thinking the first two pictures are both Pewabic right up by the Daniell Manor and the bandshell park. I still think the last one is down near Isle Royale. Just curious as I lived on Pewabic for two years. it's nice to see a picture of home (home being the Keweenaw with all that beautiful snow!)

Looks like winter is in full swing in the Keweenaw!! I can only imagine what would happen here if folks had to deal with that.......

Yes, Paul, this is Pewabic Street by the Band Shell. The car scene is on Florida Street .

Thomas: This is not a snowstorm for us, just normal everyday winter in the Keweenaw.
