All along the shores of Lake Superior in the winter months, you'll find varying degrees of ice cover. Today's Pasty Camists give us a glimpse of three of them, starting with Cindy Freeman, who snapped a shot of some slushy looking ice formed on the shoreline. Looks like it could be covering rocks... or is it just boulders of ice?

Then Ryan Wainio has an ice coated shoreline tree. Sure looks to be laden down and quite heavy for it's branches. The bonus of this photo is the freighter out there making it's way to the next Great Lakes port.

And finally, Ken Sturos completes the trio with a drop of melting snow or perhaps rain like we experienced a few days back. With the quickly dropping temperatures we just went through, it was frozen in place, before it could fall to the ground. That's a good reminder that you need to bundle up and keep moving, when the winds are blowing and the temps are dropping here UP North. You wouldn't want to get caught like this frozen drip! ;->

These shots are gorgeous! I especially like the 2nd one with the freighter in it, but they're all great!

I especially like the picture with the freighter. Can someone "name that ship"? My first thought was the Edward Reyerson but when I look on boatnerd site the self loader is on wrong end and same with the Calumet.

Wish I was lookin at the south shorline at Little Betsy right now, instead I have a conference call to attend shortly, oh well, back to work!

Morning UC. When you mention the Little Betsy I immediatly picture my rides along that road from LLBC to Gay. To me probably the bestest of the CC. I imagine myself there somewhere on a beach with the quiet and a breeze blowing. I can't image how lucky you are to have a place of your own there!(sigh)

Lovely Pictures of our Lake. Allen, could that be the Michipicoten? It makes a lot of trips/year in to Marquette. I found pictures of it on the Duluth Shipping News site under the Canadian Fleet as well as the site below.

Richard, it sure looks like you have the right one. I love these older ones. But, then anything floating by is fun. Also in my first post that should be self un-loader.

The first picture looks almost like frozen shrimp.

Kay, Still fighting the stepmother to keep it in GN's trust, If it sells, Aunt Vicki and I will have to get a place all are own some day, with my son Nate in college, buying the old cottage is not in the plans right now. In answer to your question though, The sunrise's at LB are breath taking! and the 4 wheelin across the street in the woods is alot of fun too! Marty (GN's adopted son), will second that!

Janie, put the eggnog away now! lol, just kidding, I see those frozen shrimp's too! you bring the cocktail sauce! I'll bring the vollwerth's we'll have a cook out!

Your story of the LB place sounds like a replay of the great grandparent's estate in Antrim County. The East Coast cousins won and forced a sale. Now there are mansions on the old home place..... and they sure don't belong to anyone in the family
