If you're going to make some decorated cookies for Christmas, then you better get busy like the folks in today's photos. Brita Haapala snapped a shot of one of her cookie helpers. By the looks of the flour on her lips, she was helping herself to a taste of that dough, always a favorite for my "helpers," too.

Chris Koskiniemi took his picture of the finished product and said that their family's cookies are famous here in the Keweenaw and I can see why. They not only look yummy, but have the "touch" of their little helpers hand in decorating them all.

This last bunch of decorated Christmas tree cookies come from Mary Baril. Her family gets together to frost and decorate cookies together and they have a contest to see who wins for the fanciest job. Looks like they had some entries from all ages in the family. What a great way to bring the family together during the Christmas season.

Oh boy. Wish I had a dime for every Christmas cookie I've made thru the the years! Mexican Wedding Cakes, Chocolate swirls,toffee squares, date filled,gumdrops,peanut blossoms,soft sour cream,date layer bars,and a gazillion thumprint cookies! (excuse me as I wipe the drool) :)

Cookie decorating is on the agenda for today, as soon as my 3 1/2 year old granddaughter gets here. Oh, what fun! And what a mess!

I knew the minute I saw that first picture that the 'little baker' was one of Brita's kids. So precious!

I like the one in the last picture that looks like it has been tie dyed!

My wife's folks were UP Finns and if they had seen the sweetie in the first picture they would have said (I'm not Finn so I will have to spell it phonetically) " She is a little boombah lee bah" with the map of Finland on her nose. You couldn't say anything nicer about a child than that.
