Two weeks ago, we took a drive to pick something up and we made a detour down the Kallio Road , just off the Mayflower Road behind Kearsarge. The top photo is the view we were treated to. Then we found ourselves in the same area this past Sunday, so I attempted to snap the same picture to show you the difference in the snow cover in that time span. The third photo is just to the left of the first scene, where you can see Mt. Bohemia and Mt. Houghton, off in the distance. Then I zoomed in on the Mountains for a better look...neat to see the ski runs, covered with snow and showing up so clear at that distance.

The last photo is a bonus we spotted while I was snapping the third photo. If you look closely between the fence posts just to the right of the building in the field, you can see something standing there. By the time I switched lenses to my zoom, the critter was running along the fence line, but I did manage to capture it when it stopped for a moment. Kind of an odd looking deer with the light colored underside and still sporting spots when it's that big already.

Really 'cool' (translation: COLD) photos, Mary! I love to take jaunts out into the country like that...never know what you'll spot....even a 'spotted' deer, eh? Beautiful country UP there!

I love the spotted deer and the hills. Most of all I love the white coat and not on the deer either. Yesterday FINALLY we got a little bit of snow down here in the swamps of Menominee. It sure lightens the landscape up a few notches. Without the snow at this time of the year everything appears dreary and gray. SO LET IT SNOW. I hear SSM really got an onslaught of it yesterday and they are still getting it yet.

When is the snow thermometer going to be changed to this year and 2011?

Wow...I LOVE that deer...any of you folks out in Pasty Land have a clue about it? Is it a different breed? Or just a "Freak of Nature?" or??? Way cool....Good shots Mary!!

I see that Mary has stopped outside our farm.

The deer that you are seeing is a domesticated deer on our farm. It is one of a few that we have.

This deer is a Sika Deer, she is 9 1/2 Years old. This is the way that they look.. They never lose their spots, unless they are albino, which we have one of those too.

They live on the farm with our reindeer.

We normally are open for the holidays, however do to unforeseen circumstances we are not open this year.

Our farm is known as Antler Acres.

Merry Christmas to all... See you all next year.

Martin Olgren

Mary says: I thought that was your place Marty, but I wasn't sure. I didn't want to say it was, without your permission either...since I hadn't heard any advertising about Antler Acres this year. I actually thought that deer might have been a young reindeer. Thanks for posting and letting us know what it is. Hope you're back in the swing of things next year with the reindeer for Christmas fun!

Hi to all you UP folks who were so nice to us when we drove the Circle Tour four years ago. I am writing to you from down under (in Iowa) and need to check on this site more often. We just received our first measurable snow of the season, just in time for the many Christmas season festivities going on here in Cedar Falls.

Merry Christmas to all of you, and God's peace as you enjoy his bountiful snow.
