Nine, if you count the tour guide as a miner.
Close Second
Sure, why not

By FJL (Langoman) on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 - 08:06 am:

Tied for Second

8 in 2003 and 1 miner?/tour guide in 2005
Third Bird
Late clarification worthy of a bit of Bird

I debated about the tour guide, but decided he wasn't technically a miner! Always an angle to consider......

Perhaps he's mining for tourist dollars

Good Morning! Those of us in troll land are going to get one last blast of summer today, the last full day of summer, with a predicted high of 87, after fall-like temperatures! It's really weird weather here this week, with predicted high temperatures in the 70's tomorrow, 82 on Thursday, and then back to fall on Friday. Mother Nature just can't make up her mind, I guess.

Please remember to vote today for the Copper Harbor ambulance barn project. We're up to 58th place. Please help by casting your vote!

Where was the picture "view from the cliffs" taken??

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 - 10:41 am:

the cliff view picture was taken in Pheniox, Michigan. look to the left and you can see the cute, little white church. It is not all that little but, cute.

I voted. Is there a way we can look at a graph and see what place we are in? When we voted for the CC Humane Society we could look at a graph and see where we ranked.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 - 11:34 am:

AJ - WI, first, thank you for voting. I haven't found a graph, but on the page where you vote, it does show our current place. As of now, we are in 58th place.

So, we need all of you Pasty people to please vote every day, from now until Sept. 30th! Thank you to those of you who have been voting and keep on voting, please. We were in 130th place back when I started voting, fyi, so we are making headway, but we need to keep on truckin' or something! :-)

By Sharon I. Smith (Sharons) on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 - 12:18 pm:

Marianne, thanks so much for your personal help in promoting our ambulance barn. I really appreciate it, and so does everyone in Copper Harbor. Keep on voting, everyone! Please!

By Uncle Chuck (Unclechuck) on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 - 02:27 pm:

Voted! Thanks Marianne for keeping the site posted in front of me.:)

Concerning the ambulance barn in Copper Harbor, which was discussed recently, this would be very beneficial to all residents and visitors in the area. Receiving medical care as soon as possible is very important. I visit the UP each year and in particular the Houghton-Hancock area and at times I have considered building a fine log home overlooking Lake Superior or Portage Lake and staying the entire summer before heading south to the lower peninsula again for the winter.

In addressing medical care, I have always had a concern with the past quality of medical service available in the Houghton-Keweenaw area not only for the Harbor area people but Houghton-Hancock residents as well - as one gets older. I hope it has improved. Unfortunately, if one had a stroke or heart attack it would make little difference if one were in Houghton or Copper Harbor, and from what I understand today- for this type of serious situation, the care would be minimal at best. I stand corrected if this is not the case. One would have to be shipped to Green Bay or Marquette to get proper care (i.e. bypass - heart repair) - by that time, it would be too late. But Yes, it is very important for all people in the Keweenaw area to receive what care is available as soon as possible.

Good morning! Those apples look yummy, and we don't see many oak leaves out here so I loved that picture!

Have a great day!
