Concerning the ambulance barn in Copper Harbor, which was discussed recently, this would be very beneficial to all residents and visitors in the area. Receiving medical care as soon as possible is very important. I visit the UP each year and in particular the Houghton-Hancock area and at times I have considered building a fine log home overlooking Lake Superior or Portage Lake and staying the entire summer before heading south to the lower peninsula again for the winter.
In addressing medical care, I have always had a concern with the past quality of medical service available in the Houghton-Keweenaw area not only for the Harbor area people but Houghton-Hancock residents as well - as one gets older. I hope it has improved. Unfortunately, if one had a stroke or heart attack it would make little difference if one were in Houghton or Copper Harbor, and from what I understand today- for this type of serious situation, the care would be minimal at best. I stand corrected if this is not the case. One would have to be shipped to Green Bay or Marquette to get proper care (i.e. bypass - heart repair) - by that time, it would be too late. But Yes, it is very important for all people in the Keweenaw area to receive what care is available as soon as possible.

Good morning! Those apples look yummy, and we don't see many oak leaves out here so I loved that picture!
Have a great day!
