Good morning. I belong to a little cooking club of friends/family who get together once a month. Each time one of us is sort of "Rachel Ray" and demonstrates making a meal. My turn is coming up and I'm having a Yooper theme with pasties being the main course. We usually have a cocktail, appetizer, main course, and dessert. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for special drinks or appetizers. I was thinking of making homemade applesauce to serve for dessert. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Cindy...I make a "punch" for the holidays of lime sherbet and a liter bottle of 7-UP. Mixed together.

I hope you all have a good day! Today is the last day we will see 70 degrees for a while here in mid-Michigan, they said on the noon news today, so enjoy it while you can. Fall is here, and it won't be long before we have a killing frost.

The "UP Crocodile" is one of my all-time favorite PastyCam photos.

Just one correction, though, it is obviously an alligator, not a crocodile! — Just one of Mother Nature's tricks!

You can always tell the difference between crocodiles and alligators, just look at the shape of the snout: An alligator's snout is shaped like the letter "C", while a crock's snout is shaped like the letter "A". Sneaky trick, eh? <grin>

Good pics. I especially like the Huron Island Lighthouse, and the bird with the berry looks like someone tossed it to it.

Yep, Cindy, Alex is right. If you really want to be a hit at hosting a Yooper party, Red Bull and Vodka is good for starters. Then, switch to brewskis for a few hours. You shouldn't have to worry about dessert after that. :)

Alex and Yooperguide, Maybe I'll just serve Red Bull and Vodka to everyone for about an hour and a half. Then I'll just tell them that they ate the dinner and they won't even know the difference. It would be a lot less work, don't you think?
