All across the U.P. the leaves are changing and the stage of color they're in, depends on where you are at the moment. I found this great example of the changing colors in Melanie Hakala Rossi's Pasty Gallery Photo Album. Along with those colorful leaves, she had this very "fall-like" photo from the Porcupine Mountain State Park, with a blanket of pine needles covering the forest floor. Melanie titled it, "Whispering Pines," which fits this photo perfectly, since it makes you feel like you're right there in the midst of the woodsy quiet. Autumn officially arrives at 11:09pm tonight. Fall is in the air!

Thanks to everyone who has voted for the Copper Harbor ambulance barn. However, we're not progressing as well as we were, so please, please keep voting!

Everyone who lives or visits here needs this thing! While there is a temporary place for the ambulance, in order to house it in the fire house, the tanker has had to be moved, which means draining it in the winter...not such a good idea if there is a fire in Grant Township (from Copper Harbor to Lac LaBelle). We need the ambulance barn to protect our residents and visitors.

FJeerr, Can we talk about the ambulance barn on this page?

In the deep, resonant voice of Lurch, The Addams Family butler: "You rang?"

The forest photo is very nice. I miss walking in the forest in autumn.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 - 09:42 pm:

I love pictures of forests, with either pine needle or leaves coverings, but pine needles smell better! :-)

By David Soumis (Davesou) on Thursday, September 23, 2010 - 06:41 am:

i love walking in the woods, especially in the fall. sunshining, crisp clean air with the smell of the newly fallen leaves..the swishing sound of the leaves as you walk through..the color all around, the occassional partridge that flies up out of nowhere to scare the crap out of you. its a great time of year.
