Last Saturday, we joined Brenda Leigh while she was making blueberry jam. This week she's using the bounty from her Menominee area garden to whip up a batch of HOT salsa. Check out that basket of Roma tomatoes… I'd like to reach in there, grab one and start munching away. Brenda resisted that urge and began the process of salsa making, instead. The biggest job is the chopping of the various ingredients, then cooking down to thicken the mix is next. Then with the finished product poured into the jars, you're all set for the cold winter months ahead… just open a jar of that HOT salsa when you feel the need for some extra heat.

My mouth is salivating.

Great looking tomatoes, now the question are they classified as a vegetable or a fruit. I think its fruit.

It is a fruit but it's used like a vegetable.

Yummy!! I hope Brenda wore gloves while chopping those chilis. Chopping all of those onions sure would be an eye-watering job, but did you know that wearing safety goggles while chopping onions helps keep the fumes away from the eyes, and therefore less irritation. You look silly, but it works!

We have a great Farm here in Commerce Twp. named Long's, they have great vegetables! (right Maja?) Just had a sliced tomato last night,that n a salt shaker, n I'm home!

Oct. 1st, we're U.P. bound and we don't slow down for dead racoons or joggers!
