Rose Riemer made a trip out to Isle Royale, bringing back some hiking memories of this peaceful National Park. It's always a great experience to hike the Island, discovering all that nature has to offer in the wilds over there. Rose's third photo shows you something of the "wild" you probably won't see... that's a wolf track and a pretty good size one, compared to those feet in the photo. Wolves over there are pretty skittish, so a track like this is about all you'll see of a wolf, unless you're one of the lucky ones. I like the way Rose caught the splash with her camera. It reminded me that this time of year with the season drawing to an end, there aren't many folks over there... it's so quiet you can hear a rock drop in Lake Superior!

Love the splash picture! It game me a good chuckle to start my day!! Looks like a lot of work. Envy those who have the stamina to do that.

I hope they're not getting ready to take a long walk off that pier in the first picture.

Watch that last step, it's a doozy!! J

Where is that dock in the first photo on Isle Royale anyways??

Looks like Daisy Farm in the mid-morning to me.

Reminds me of the guys at the ore dock at Marquette. They decided to count the number of ties on the dock to make it look like they were doing something during a slow period. Then they decided it would be better if they counted the slits 'cause there's the same number of them as there is ties and in doing so they could keep an eye on the boss who was on the ground below. Well they counted slits and got so engrossed in their "project" they walked off the end of the dock and fell into the lake. Having heavy tool belts on they drowned. Moral of the story is "When you're outta Slits your outta Pier."

Great shots. I like the stop action of the water splash. I hope I can visit Isle Royale some day.

Just got back from a great trip to the island, in spite of some rain on Saturday and a mighty rough trip back on the Queen on Monday! The kids told their Principal it was "AWESOME!"
