"My true love gave to me, a gourd in an evergreen tree." That quote came from Kathy Ceno, who sent us these photos today. I had to do a double-take when they arrived in my email, since it's not too often you find a gourd growing in a pine tree, but this one in Calumet, decided to wrap it's vines all around that evergreen. If I'm not mistaken, that's a pumpkin nestled all safely amongst the pine needles. Kind of looks like it's made a nest to wait things out until it's ripened and ready to be made into a jack-o-lantern or a delicious pie. Sure hope the pine branches can hold that pumpkin up as it finishes the growing season.

Thanks to all the photographers who contribute their work to help keep this website with something U.P. every day. For over 12 years we've been doing this, and never missed a day. Today almost became our first exception, as we have had a difficult time with the Keweenaw broadband network after some recent severe weather. This evening we finally resolved the remaining problems, and Pasty.NET is running faster than ever. Now to get the pasty order form back online :o)
