Morning everybody! Mikie, I was even paying attention this morning! Way to go!!

Mmmmmm, blueberries!! It's making me want blueberry pancakes. We didn't get any this year, but still have some from last year. AND, a friend from Maine sent us 5# of Maine blueberries! I doubt they're as good as Michigan blueberries though. Time will tell.

Have a great day! Yayyy!!! It's Friday!!

Speaking of blueberries, my 88 year old father picked 247 and 1/2
quarts of wild blueberries in the U. P. this summer. He gave most
of them away to be used for fund raisers at Faith Lutheran,
Bethlehem Lutheran and the Finnish Center. The rest of the family
benefitted as well and will continue to do so throughout the winter.

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Friday, August 27, 2010 - 08:47 am:

kosk...your dad is an inspiration! That is great, 88 yrs. young. Age is just a number.

By Michael Du Long (Mikie) on Friday, August 27, 2010 - 09:03 am:

I guess not being able to sleep has some benifets. After having a dry spell, no early birds, for some time I am proud that I have won several this summer. Thanks Mary and Charlie for this wonderful sight.

By DEAN SCHWARTZ SR. (Lulu) on Friday, August 27, 2010 - 09:16 am:

"Good Morning", from Shelby Township. It's a very nice 60 degrees here. I was going to try and make it up to the Copper Country this Summer, but with cancer sugery, and low income the wife and I plan on a trip later this year. Maybe for the fall colors. I want to thank all the Pasty-Cam family for the prayers and good wishes during this trying time. The good new's is that I'am cancer free, no kemo or radiation treatment is needed. I'll return to work this Monday. So once again Thank's to all.

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Friday, August 27, 2010 - 10:25 am:

Good grief Kosk, are there any blueberries left in the UP?? ;-) Although I can't say much; if Dr. Nat's father lived in the area, he would be the one chasing the bears, badgers, and any other onery critters out of the berry patch so he could pick them!! He is serious about his berries......

That is some awesome news, Dean!!!! After the summer you've had, you and the Mrs. deserve a nice Copper Country holiday this fall.

By Uncle Chuck (Unclechuck) on Friday, August 27, 2010 - 10:31 am:

Way to go Dean! Hope you enjoy your trip this Fall!

By Uncle Chuck (Unclechuck) on Friday, August 27, 2010 - 01:09 pm:

Lunch time, I could go for those blueberries and the eggs and sausage sticks!

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Friday, August 27, 2010 - 01:40 pm:

Way to go Dean and if it gets a little to stressful at work, just grab two beers and go down the exit slide :)

By Yooperguide (Huntandfish) on Friday, August 27, 2010 - 03:55 pm:

Congratulations on your speedy recovery, Dean! Hope you make it UP this fall, it'll add years to you and the Mrs.

Okay Uncle Chuck, you got me craving blueberry pancakes with "real" maple syrup, eggs and sausage sticks over that campfire. Best breakfast in the world.

By Uncle Chuck (Unclechuck) on Friday, August 27, 2010 - 04:38 pm:

Yooperguide, couldn't agree more, can't wait to get U.P. in the Keweenaw!

By jbuck (Jbuck) on Friday, August 27, 2010 - 04:52 pm:

Wonderful news Dean ~ an answer to prayer! Thanks for sharing the good news with your friends!

Hope you can get to the UP for an extended fall color tour ~ AND that the weather will cooperate.

By Thomas Baird (Thomas) on Friday, August 27, 2010 - 04:59 pm:

I always like these Memory Lane pics, and 2 of them make me hungry (blueberries + breakfast on the go).

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Friday, August 27, 2010 - 05:17 pm:

Yup,Bobbysgirl. My dad is a wonder. Capt. Paul, my dad would
love to meet Dr. Nat's father. There aren't many people as driven
to pick as he is.

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Friday, August 27, 2010 - 05:38 pm:

Thanks Again, Davey. Bill says it is better.

blueberry muffins. ;O)

By Uncle Chuck (Unclechuck) on Friday, August 27, 2010 - 05:39 pm:

Kosk & Capt. I give them both alot of credit, pickin berries for me ranks right up there with raking leaves, can't do either, but I sure enjoy when they're both done, lol.

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Friday, August 27, 2010 - 09:19 pm:

I have trouble bringing myself to stand on my head and pick blueberries, but I sure do love the results.....

By Michael Du Long (Mikie) on Friday, August 27, 2010 - 10:20 pm:

Kosk throw in Mr. Deb and you would have a team of pickers by far the best. Of course he isn't a real Yooper, being born in Mineesotaah.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Friday, August 27, 2010 - 11:13 pm:

Way to go, Dean! Happy you're cancer free!

Oh-oh, Mikie! I think you've wounded my hubby's pride. You know he got a real green card from Laurie & Steve.

Kosk, good for your dad. My hubby loves picking blueberries. I like laying on the ground and eating them, lol. Though, I do pick my share for the bucket too.

Ummmmm, blueberries!! Nothing like the UP to get whatever kind of berry you may want.
