In which year can you see Lake Medora?

Great again. Those blueberries look really tasty.

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Monday, August 2, 2010 - 08:20 am:

Nice pics and by the intense look of the faces in the first photo, I would say they are playing "Wipeout".

By Norma in Midland (Normainmidland) on Monday, August 2, 2010 - 08:34 am:

OOH how I miss Brockway Mountain! So beautiful!

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Monday, August 2, 2010 - 08:50 am:

Alex...did you ever play the 17 min. drum solo "In A Gadda Da Vida" by Iron Butterfly? lol!

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Monday, August 2, 2010 - 10:25 am:

Absolutely JT...I'm impressed! That was one of the first songs that I learned to play when bought my drum set and man did I work up a sweat. That solo and “Moby Dick” by John Bonham of Led Zeppelin.
I must have driven the neighbors crazy. I think that is why there are so many barking dogs in my neighborhood now, its payback time :)
By the way, I hope your feeling better today. It sounds like you had a rough weekend. My condolences.

WOW! That's quite the wall cloud at Great Sand Bay. We've seen a few of those this year out at our home in Minnesota. One of them was right over our house and the clouds were swirling. Thankfully, it waited a few miles before it touched down. Very impressive!

Good morning from the beautiful Copper Country!

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Monday, August 2, 2010 - 11:53 am:

That is a gorgeous view from Brockway Mtn. I hope the weather is that beautiful when we're up there for a few days Aug. 20th!

Uncle Chuck, thank you for your MTU comments the other day. I meant to reply, but missed it. Northern is great for some degrees. We just happen to think that Tech is great for Engineering, Computer, and Science degrees. :-)

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Monday, August 2, 2010 - 01:00 pm:

Alex....yes it was heart breaking weekend. Just doesn't always seem right to do the kind thing.

By Uncle Chuck (Unclechuck) on Monday, August 2, 2010 - 01:59 pm:

No doubt Marianne, your boys are "A ramblin reck from da Michigan Tech, and a hellofa engineer" or do they sing " In heaven there is no beer, that's why we drink it here!" Can't wait for the GLI, lol

Here I am sitting in my motel room in Houghton trying to schedule my day tomorrow and have a question that I that some of you have an answer to. The tall ships are leaving Duluth tomorrow morning and are racing to the Soo. I am here in Houghton and am trying to anticipate when the ships are approaching Eagle River and Copper harbour. My task is to be on Brockway Mountain Drive with my cameras set up to hopefully get some awsome shots of them out on the Lake! My problem is how long is it going to take the ships to sail to Copper Harbor? Noon? Before? After? Help! I only have tomorrow to record this grand passing of the "Tall Ships"

Richard:
I don't have an answer for you, but if you do happen to get the shots you're talking about, please, please, please email them to me at: mdrew@pasty.com.
We'd love to feature that on Pasty.com!

Richard:

Here's a fleet tracker site: http://www.sailwx.info/shiptrack/tsc2010.phtml

Maybe you could pick a ship or 2 and plot them? That may give you a ballpark time to got to Brockway?

Hoping you determine a way to do it and share the pictures with Mary so we can all enjoy them!

Here's the site just for the Tall Ships:

And-- if they happen to be coming back down this way I'd sure like to know when they pass down the St. Clair River. Our road ends at the River a short ways from here so we are lucky to get a quite close view of ship traffic! Would like to put my new camera to the test!

Perhaps someone at boatnerd.com could have an idea?
