Brenda Leigh was visiting her sister's cabin, on the shores of Lake Superior recently, when she was introduced to some friendly neighbors. Talk about trusting little critters, although if you've ever been around them outside, you know they can be a bit skittish, but don't really seem to be afraid of humans. I like the shot with the chipmunk in her hand and another one down below checking things out, perhaps weighing whether he should take a chance and jump up there, too. I would guess tempting a chipmunk like this must take some patience on the part of the person attached to that hand and a whole lot of faith on the chippies part.

Too bad the bridge cam was not working yesterday during the bridge problem. Matter of fact it is stuck on July 30th.

That's sooooooooo awesome! I've done that, and started as a kid at Chet Wetton's...he was the original Chippy Feeder!

I was stuck on the wrong side of that bridge yesterday...THRILLED it got fixed!

Not sure how chipmunk's relate to a bridge problem..............Just wondering.....

I remember my friend Tom Mueller had a chipmunk in his yard that would go into his shirt pocket to get peanuts that Tom had put there. I miss Tom.

My wife is on her second 50 lb bag of sun flower seed for her Chippies here in Bootjack!! She can pet a few of them too.

FJL...There is a space between the two comments. Must be one of theose folks who can chew gum ...and..talk at the same time huh?

Believe me.... there is only one wrong side of the bridge....the side where you are away from friends and family !!!

someone asked yesterday how many times the bridge has been "stuck." I don't recall any, but there is a story about the previous bridge being stuck during very hot weather when the metal and wood expanded. The fire departments were called upon to hose it down. May be some old timers can recall that.

I used to have a pet chippy when I was young. He would eat right out of my hand too. I just loved them. Now my cat kills them and eats them. I told him he could catch all the mice he wants, but leave the chippies alone!!! Nice pictures!

That's a funny story Deb. My suggestion is to feed cat food to the chipmunks and you would be killing two birds with one stone :)
