DrNat and I have been busy!! Getting everything packed and squared away for our Newfoundland/Labrador trip which we leave for tomorrow morning. With any luck and depending on time, we may even take the long way back and swing through the Keweenaw in August for a bit.

It'll be nice to escape this heat/humidity even for a couple weeks....

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 - 08:30 am:

We'll be there the first week if you want to have dinner again.

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 - 08:40 am:

Och Aye...Enjoy your trip and be safe Capt and Dr. Nat!

By jbuck (Jbuck) on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 - 08:46 am:

Safe travels, Capt Paul - may our Lord be with you!

Unfortunitely Deb, if we make to Houghton, it won't be until the 11th at the earliest.
Ouch Dean; your news completely overshadows my trip!! I know exactly where Beaumont is since my cousin and aunt live less than a mile away in Berkely. I hear it's a great hospital for things of that matter though, so I'm sure your in good hands.....

By David Hiltunen (Davidcorrytontn) on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 - 11:42 am:

I know right where you are at to Dean as I worked & lived in Royal Oak for many years. My thoughts & prayers are with you.Your in good hands there, a very fine Hospital to be in when the need hits you.

By Mary Drew at Pasty Central (Mdrew) on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 - 02:15 pm:

Now this is definitely something worth seeing:
Ron & Mary Schwenk Chopp are lighting up the Quincy Shafthouse this Friday and Saturday night at 10!! The Quincy Board wants to see what it would look like lit up first BEFORE they decide to light it from the exterior or the inside (which I am not in favor of) Then..if you see it lit and like it.. call the Quincy Gift Shop or Dave Jukuri and tell them what you think! THANK YOU!! Get out your cameras!! First time lit since the Strike of 1913!!..and maybe the last time!
If someone with a camera gets a good shot they want to share, be sure to send it to me at mdrew@pasty.com, so we can use it as a daily Pasty Cam photo.

Check out Mary Chopp's post, along with a photo, on Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula Facebook page:

Dean,
May our Lord surround you with His healing power and love and may He grant the doctors great wisdom as they work with Him to heal you completely. You are indeed in our prayers and we'll look forward to the best of news from you after you are released from the hospital.

By Mary Drew at Pasty Central (Mdrew) on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 - 08:52 pm:

Thoughts and prayers are coming your way, Dean...

By Sue Conte (Ferndalesue) on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 - 09:28 pm:

I haven't posted in a few years but I saw Dean's posting. My brother-in-law is in R.O. Beaumont as well for cancer. They transfered him from Troy Beaumont to R.O. because they have the best surgeons at the R.O. hospital. God speed to you Dean, as well as my b-in-law.

OVER THE YEARS I HEARD , READ & WITNESSED CANCER CURES. AMONG THEM--GRAPE CURE FOR STOMACH CANCER,
FLAXSEED OIL FOR VARIOUS CANCERS----BERES DROPS FOR LUNG CANCER. AND OF COURSE THE DEBATABLE ONE-
APRICOT SEEDS { LEATRIL } I WONDER IF ANY ONE HEARD OF OTHER CURES IN THE MORE NATURAL MED??

By Ken ja Mimi from da UP (Kenjamimi) on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 - 10:21 pm:

Dean, you're in our prayers, too. Keep a positive outlook and we'll be waiting for your posts. God's blessings on you.

By Bob Williams (Wabbit) on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 - 11:16 am:

The Quincy # 2 shafthouse was lit for many years when Quincy still owned it. I think it was when Tech Ventures got a hold of it that the exterior lights went out. I always loved viewing it from the Houghton side all lit up.
